HI All,

Im 28 weeks 5 days, Been for a growth scan today because I have a thyroid disorder, baby is doing fine and measuring just great :happydance:

However upon further checking the Sonographer found that I have loads of calcium deposits/placenta calcification,

I wouldve had another scan in 4 weeks time to continue the checking of growth due to my Thyroid however the Sonographer said she didnt want to leave me that long and wants me to be checked again in 2 weeks......

Ive never actually heard of this before, so if anyone can shed some light that would be great, Ive got my midwife tomorrow but just so I can gain a better understand or atleast speak to someone else who has maybe experienced this????

Many thanks Ladies!!

i have this due to passive smoking. i have to be monitored every so often to make sure baby is getting everything she needs x

HOw bad is yours? You say every so often which makes me worry that Im 28 weeks and the sonographer was in no doubt that leaving me another 4 weeks was not practical, and she wanted me monitored in 2 weeks.

I dont smoke or am I ever around smoke (makes me feel sick) although I gave up smoking 4 months before I conceived.
Not so concerned as to how this has happened as to what happens now??

thanks for your reply Lil-Lauren

mine looked pretty bad and the sonographer was shocked as i dont smoke i have to be monitored every 2weeks but thats also because baby is small and i have a few other things that can only be checked out by scans. i hate it when people say dont worry and all that nonsense but in this case with our placentas the way they are stress is really not a good idea. im enquiring about getting a hosptial transfer as i have had nothing put problems with my current hospital. i completely understand what u mean about not being concerned how just about whats next and i feel the same. i dont trust my hospital to do whats best as they always dismiss what i tell them them have a go at me when i go back a few weeks later and they actually discover what the problem was. i think the next steps are just being monitored and see what happens from there. best of luck xxxxx
