When does the placenta take over? I've read it takes over anywhere from 10-12 weeks.

However, at my 8 week scan, last week, they did not see a corpus luteum. The U/S tech did not seem worried about it, just said she could not see it but my right ovary was a little larger than my left.

What could this mean?

My baby appeared healthy and on track so Im not too worried but I am curious. Could the placenta have already been taking over at that point?

I'm sorry I have no idea :/ but I didn't want to read and run. I hope you find an answer.

Sometimes it's just hard to see things on ultrasound. It may very well be you still have the corpus luteum, but they just couldn't find it. I had an ultrasound and the tech couldn't find one of my ovaries. I have two, but for some reason she just couldn't see it. I believe I've read the placenta takes over by 13 weeks so it can vary.

I think it takes over by 13 weeks.

Sounds like u ovulated from your right Overy.

Xxx
