My 16 wk old daughter has had issues with feeding since birth. I kept hoping every day this would resolve itself, she had oral thrush and I believe this is the catalyst in all her problems. She's now on cow & gate comfort (tried aptimal, enfamil ar) with collief this seems to have sorted her bottom end wind, however I struggle to get more than an ounce into her and she's thrashing and full of wind. It took me an hour this am to get 4 ounces in in which time she winded about 10 times this is just not right. I'm at my wits end as I never had with either of my boys the poor wee toot is starving and the milk just isn't satisfying her. She seems to regurgitate the milk too we thought it was SR and treated her gaviscon and ranitidine which has made no difference it seems everything I try doesn't work. ie. infacol, gripe water, detinonox, chiropractor it's driving me crazy and having a massive impact on our family. Please someone help!

Hi-i am a new mum so may not be that helful. My LO is 4 weeks old on Friday and has only just started taking more than 1 or 2 oz at each feed. And takes up to an hour for that. Over the last few days she is taking more and sleeping in between-hopefully it will improve for you too!:hugs:

Has your LO been tested for allergies? I think this should be the next step. Some doctors and specialists are reluctant to test before 12 months as the tests can have some margin of error; but keep trying. If its allergy related your baby will need a special prescription formula in which all the milk protein within it has been completely altered so the body will not reject it. Good luck!

What bottles are you using, and what size teat? If you're using a teat that is too slow or even too fast LO may be gulping air. At 16 weeks on standard formula I'd expect you to be on a stage 2 teat, but as you're using comfort (which is thicker) you may even need a stage 3.

Some brands of bottles are worse than others for wind too. Dr Browns are by far the best at reducing wind, although they are a bit pricey.

If things stay like this, I'd say a trip to the doctors is probably the next best thing to do.

Hi there thanks for your reply.. I'm using Dr Brown's stage 3 with C & G comfort milk.

if you're using comfort milk, you'll likely have to use a bigger teat as the milk's thicker than normal milk.
xx
