Hi this is a time line and lab results:

LMP: June 18, 2011
Doctor later believes I conceived on July 9th, 2011
Bogus LMP as per doctor: July 13, 2011 (bled for 3 days like a period)
July 19 bled after sex. (thought that was odd but thought it was due to my endometriosis and spotting stopped after about 12 hours.)
July 23 bled again after sex. (at this point I called my doctor and she said it was my endometriosis and that we will talk soon about being more aggressive fighting it. This spotting lasted about 12-24 hours.)
July 25 and July 26 bled like a period and had HORRIBLE cramping and right side ovary/lower back/hip pain.
July 26 Took a home pregnancy test at home (To my surprise... POSITIVE! and confirmed it with a blood test that night. BHCG:556.1)
July 27 BHCG: 771.7, Progesterone: 3.0 Ultrasound found nothing.
July 28 and July 29 cramping and spotting and then stopped.
July 30 BHCG: 882.9 Some spotting. Progesterone blood level sent to lab. Waiting for results (3 days)
July 31 Terrible right side pain for 1 hour. US done. Nothing visible.
August 1 Repeated BHCG done. Waiting for results of this and of Progesterone level which was drawn on July 30.

So, in a nutshell doctor thinks I miscarried but have not bled out enough and that because my BHCG levels are far from normal rise, levels are not declining, hence it indicates that some chorionic tissue is persistent either in my uterus or elsewhere.

I do not know what to do or think. Now she wants to give me cytotec soon to do the job.

Please help me with your thoughts on this and if you have gone through something similar.

Thank you.

Didnt want to R&R but please take my opinion with a grain of salt as I am not a medical expert.
It seems like a lot of bleeding but that doesn't concern me as much as your numbers. Tons of women my sister included bled through pregnancy and had a healthy child.
The fact that your beta barely went up over a few days concerns me and your progesterone.
From what I understand doctors want your progesterone to be at least 10 for a healthy pregnancy, but medication can be taken to up your levels, the sooner the better.
The non doubling hcg doesn't seem good BUT your in my thoughts for positive news!
Wait until you get your next set of results and youll be able to see a clearer picture of what's going on. GL and FXed!!!!

It sounds like it could be an ectopic. Slowly rising betas with low progesterone and terrible right side pain....I would be questioning the doctor ASAP about that possiblity and to get you in for an ultrasound immediately. Sorry to scare you, but I had one in January and it is nothing to mess around with. I had those exact symptoms! Good Luck to you and please keep us posted!

Opps, sorry, I saw that you already had an ultrasound...but it could be that you are still just too early to see any bulge in one of your tubes. Did they see a sac in your uterus?

Just try to stay positive even though I know it is tough to do. I had a missed miscarriage in May at 9 weeks which resulted in me having to have a D&C. It is tough...I am paranoid now that something will go wrong with this pregnancy. I have gone in twice for blood work but now going in again just to check it once more. Maybe have another ultra sound and another round of blood work. The doctors should be able to figure it out...good luck!!! :)

:hugs: I'm not an expert and do not know what to say, but did not want read and run

I really hope this works out ok for you xx Just because your levels are not doubling don't give up yet, personally i wouldn't let them do anything to bring on or encourage a missariage unless you are sure thats what it is. You wouldn't see anything on a scan at this stage anyways, so you may just have to wait and hope.

Thinking fo you xx

Thanks everyone. So I just got home a few hours ago from the ER. I had to take Methotrexate because they found that I have a right ectopic!

And now my doctor suggests that when it is ttc I should do an IVF. You can still get an ectopic with an IVF! I don't know what to do. And now I found out that my insurance does not cover IVF procedures. That's it. No babies for me. The one thing I've ever wanted was to have children and that isn't going to happen.

I'm very sorry to read your news New Yorker. :hugs:

Just because you have had one ectopic doesn't mean you will next time. That seems a strange suggestion for the doc to make.

Hey hun,

I also didn't want to read and run, but agree with what PhoenixN has said - it seems like a strange suggestion for the doc to make, and unless I'm missing something, I can't understand why an ectopic this time around means you have to do IVF next time. I'm sure many women have ectopics but then go on to have pregnancies that are fine. Is this a problem you have had more than once? or is it your first time. I would certainly ask more questions and don't give up hope. *hug*

Yes don't give up hope. I had an ectopic pregnancy on my right side and they had to take my right tube. I did get pregnant again and delivered a healthy baby girl. I am pregnant now and have been checked to make sure it is not ectopic and it is not. It is in the uterus. They can do a test where they shoot die through your tubes to make sure they aren't blocked. Can't remember the name of it now.

Sorry this has happened to you...don't give up hope!

Thanks ladies. I had a laporoscopy back in January 2011 and was found to have Stage 4 endometriosis. Prior to that I had tried 2 IUI cycles an one timed intercourse with clomid. Because of my endometriosis... that is why my doctor thinks I had an ectopic (that my tube was kinked). Also, because the ectopic was seen on the ultrasound.

She wants me to get an HSG (Hysterosalpingogram) to see if my tubes are patent/clear once my BHCG goes down to 0 again. Then that is when she wants me to do IVF. I did find out that the IUI cycles are covered under my insurance so I am going to tell her that will be the best route for me since there is no way I will do IVF because of the cost.

P.S. ---> thelioncub.... I love your picture of the cat! Made me smile. I love cats. Thanks. I needed that.

Sorry about the ectopic and other issues you have. Hopefully a hsg will clear out any other kinks or blockages and you will be successful in the future. I got preg 3 months after my ectopic and I only have 1 tube.

Sorry for the loss of your baby :(
