Can anyone help me understand these results? Thank you.

Results:

Sperm count: < 1 million / Normal range: 20-150 million

% Motility: 0 / Normal range: 70-100 %

Morphology: rare degenerated sperm identified

I know this is bad, probably really bad but does anyone know what this means????

hiya

i know your sperm count is quite low. 20 mil is the minimum that's required to be classed as fertile and 'normal'
also mobility at 0% means that they are just not moving. so obviously they won't swim to the egg and definitely won't penetrate it to make a fetilised embryo. :(
not sure what the morphology means tho. sorry. but the other 2 are very similar to what we had. if you want any ideas how to imporve it i have lots of vits he can take! :D xx

forgot to mention which might help, we got referred straight for ICSI with SA similar to yours. Have you seen a fertility specialist yet? or is that just from GP? xx

We have not seen a fertility specialist yet. Dh went to a urologist for the s/a. Can you please list the vitamins for me. Thank you!

He has a very small number of sperm cells and next to none of them are even moving normally and to top it all off the shape of the sperm cells show a rare level of degeneration.

If they aren't the right shape, they can't fertilise the egg even if they manage to reach it.

Your chances of natural conception must be remote.

It's not all bad though because he isn't completely infertile so you should have the same chance of getting pregnant via ICSI as the rest of us :hugs:
