Please help me understand this sperm analysis

Can anyone help me understand these results? Thank you.

Results:

Sperm count: < 1 million / Normal range: 20-150 million

% Motility: 0 / Normal range: 70-100 %

Morphology: rare degenerated sperm identified


I know this is bad, probably really bad but does anyone know what this means????

What volume was there?
My oh had 4ml and only 16.7 million sperm. They said it should be 20 million per ml (that what doc said to us)
Motility should be minimum of 50% (our was 8%)
Morphology i beleive is if ther are ther right shape, size etc (our was 8%)


is this yours partners?

Thanks for responding. Yes, this is my DH results. The volume was 2 ml. Our analysis sounds very bad. I hope we still have a chance to conceive.

just jumped in to say ive replied on the assisted conception thread. don't mean to be obnoxious but our FS said that normal motility is 15% which he explained is low but all test and analysis done show at 15% there will be no porblems with conception xx

Hi Hopefulchick

My hubby goes for his second SA at the start of december, its not really a fair reading of just one sample. I might be getting my hopes up but my hubby said he didnt get his analysis to the clinic until dead on the hour (getting lost on the way) and then did they test it straight away? did it sit there for another half an hour? That might not affect the volume but it might explain low motility and high immotile sperm.

So it might not be as bad as first thought! Also i have read lots of post on here about taking various vitamins to help with sperm

Good luck and if you need a chat im here, i know how upsetting it is. Was up again last night crying becuase another friend pregnant.

Thanks. We go to have a sit down w/ the urologist on Thurs morning. I hope it is just a mistake but not likely as we live super close to the lab and got the sample delivered and processed within 15 minutes.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you DH next sample

Kaye -I know its hard when someone u know gets pregnant so big hug

hopeful chick - we got told once Dh results 1% we were devastated but its up to 11% from taking vits and wearing cotton boxers. because his volume is large its equivalent to 30% apparently but still hard to hear.

Just got back from the doc.
The doc was quite taken back by the results and even called the lab to ask questions. So he ordered an ultrasound of DH testicles to check for a varicocele that would inhibit sperm production and quality. He had already examined him so I thought we were in the clear for that but he says sometimes these varicoceles can not be able to be felt through examination. He also ordered a repeat analysis.

Me and DH went straight to get his ultrasound and it went pretty quick. The tech told him that the right testicle was fine but there was some minor blockage in the left testicle. So, I am not sure where we stand right now.

ah hopefulchick sorry to hear that there may be further problems. good that he got an ultrasound so quick and u were able to get results tho. i expect u will have to go back to docs after another SA to make a plan from there. it may not be easy getting that BFP but we will get there one day.

A friend i work with & share a lift with just announced her pregnancy & i had to be all smiles. haven;t cried because i'm ov'ing & putting all my energy into this cycle. it may be me next i keep wishing.
