I dont know what else to do. My lg is 6 days old and struggles to take more than 2oz per feed. Its also quite hard to burp her properly and when ive put her back in her bed she pulls faces and blows raspberrys. I can see her saliva is white-ish so that makes me think its either regurgitated milk or sick. She kicks up her legs as if shes in pain and holds her breath. She also spits up quite a lot but im not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that she was quite mucousy when she was born. She loses sleep because she lies awake with this problem and when i wake up to feed her she seems dead fussy so i burp her and she falls asleep - she then wont take her feed because shes too tired having stayed awake. I dont know what to do because its tiring me out she falls asleep on my shoulder upright and then fusses when laid flat. Its as if she has heartburn and i dont know whether i should change from tommee tippee to dr brown bottles, use infacol, use gaviscon or change her milk. Shes currently on aptamil 1st. Can someone please shed some light on this i am desperate and cant cope.

Sounds like she's having reflux. Burp her after every ounce and keep her upright for a good 20 minutes or so after every feeding. Also, and this one is a big deal for her sleeping - prop up the head of her basennette by putting books or something like that under the feet of it so she's sleeping on an incline. Reflux babies have a terrible time laying flat. That should all help and if she's still really having problems, talk to her Dr. about trying a medication.

Hiya,

My little girl was exactly the same. She was on Aptamil and seemed to make her stomach and trumping really bad as I switched her to Hipp Organic milk and her tummy is alot settled and not in so much pain. But she was diagnosed as having reflux and so doctor said to give her infant Gaviscon in each feed. She has now stopped being sick but still only drinks as and when really. But she had improved so much.

Personally I think Aptamil causes alot of stomach ache and wind from my own experience and what I have read online and from friends.

sounds like reflux to me hun. Dont worry about the 2oz, at that age my son was still not even taking 1oz at each feed. As pp suggested try propping up her bassinet (or wherever she sleeps/sits) at the head end so her head is raised. Also burp frequently during the feed, and at the end just spend a good 5 minutes rubbing and patting. I found with my son i had to do a combination of both to get any decent wind up from him.
You could try changing milk but if you do, do it gradually and not just straight away as that could cause more problems.

Try these and then if its still no better speak to a GP/health visitor. There is a lot of things they can do to try and help. My son was put on a lot of different things until eventually being put on a double calorie milk since he was struggling to gain weight with the bad reflux. I dont think changing bottles with make much difference. I used tommee tippee closer to nature anti colic bottles and they did nothing for my little one.. and i think DR Browns use the same kind of method... also read some bad reviews for DR Browns.

This time i have mOmma by tomy bottles with flexi teats to try combat the problem if baby is the same. you could many try one of those? xx

she still has a really tiny tummy. at 8 weeks when I started FF my LO only took 2-3 oz at a time, every couple hours. She also has reflux.

Burp every ounce, keep upright for 15 minutes after feeding, no bouncing/play
You could also try the gas drops too :)

Dr browns are amazing, the tt anti colic were such utter rubbish, gutted I wasted my money. Mam anti colic are great too.
I second hipp organic, I use it and have read countless reviews on people changing to it because it's gentle on the tummy, though it's what suits your baby best.
My lo only drank that much at six days, he's three months now and only just draining five oz, don't stress so much on what the formula packet days, just take cues grin your baby, when she needs to go up an Oz she'll she'll drain all her bottles and fuss for more.

good luck, keep her propped up after feeds for 20 mins, and you could prop where she sleeps up too, better for reflux :)
I've always used infacol, makes burping them easier, or gripe water could help.

Could also consider a 'comfort' milk. They are slightly thicker which may help with the reflux and I think the lactose has been partially treated to make it easier to digest and therefore produce less wind.
