Hi all

So i am a really anxious person and i need a bit of advise.

So i have this dull ache on and off in my right sholder. I have had the same sort of ache/pain in my collar bone in the past (whilst not pregnant).

Anyways I did something stupid and googled it and got all this stuff about eptopic pregnancies  and now im really frightened. right now im either 4 weeks and 6 days or 5 weeks 3 days (not sure which date is correct)

apart from some slight twinges and cramps around my pubic bone which i assume was normal as seems to be common on here. i have no other symptons except this dull ache in my shoulder?? on google it says shoulder tip now i think this pain is in my whole shoulder but because im now getting all anxious im convincing myself its in the tip??

does anyone know what this pain is like? and would i have any other obvious signs? like i said i only got mild twinges etc around my pubic bone

if youre not having sharp one sided pain, i would say youre ok:-) but mention it to your doc to be on the safe side:-) good luck:-)

I wouldn't panik, the shoulder pain associated with ectopics is due to internal bleeding and my sister has had 2 ectopics (lost both tubes) and she got the shoulder pain with both describing it as a dull ache but sometimes sharp feeling, she got it around 6-7 weeks pregnant with each, as by that point the pregnancy in the tube is causing damage and bleeding, she also bled out at that point, so you would defo have other symptoms, shortly after her shoulder pain started she was in crippling agony in her abdomen and had surgery within about 24 hours. So pls don't panik but do see your doctor if you are concerned.

I had shoulder pain with my ectopic but as pp said it was around 6 weeks. I knew there was something very wrong to begin with as constantly spotting and very hard to get a positive hpt, they were so faint even days after my period was due. Have you found this at all?

I would get this checked out. People who have ectopics, get the shoulder pain due to the fact that the growing LO is touching your nerves, if it bleeds then it can turn into sharper pains. It's more than likely nothing to worry about but I'd go to the doctors and asked to get scanned for that reason.

I suffered with shoulder pain at the start of my pregnancy I was convinced it was a etopic I had a scan at 5 weeks after some spotting and baby had heart beat and was in the sac the doc asked how many pillows I sleep on.. I sleep on 3 she told me to only use one and see if that makes a difference and it did straight away!! So shoulder pain doesn't always mean etopic and the worst thing you can do is google something you will just scare yourself x

thanks girls

think il book docs tomorrows anyways as i know i wont stop worrying til i do.

So after having a panic attack this afternoon my OH took me to the hospital and they did a scan - no eptopic and everything is how it should be at 5 weeks :)

Glad you went in and got it figured out! I was about to chime in and say I had soulder pain in the very first weeks. I worried myself too but after googling I knew it was ok. I think I slept on it wrong. With an eptopic, it defo happens when your internally bleeding, and you would of had other symptoms before that like bleeding and cramping.

Its better to be safe than sorry though. Glad all is ok! xo

hi hun,
this is going to sound really odd, but have a cup of hot water and take some windeeze. trapped wind is felt in your shoulder, it doesnt hurt to eliminate the simple things!

What a relief thank goodness glad you're ok x
