hiya, ive not posted on this forum for aaages but i really need some help, ive been brestfeeding william now for 3 month and its been going fine till this last week, hes only just started sleeping through. a good 8hours, he sleeps at either 9 or 10pm and through till 6am but since hes been sleeping and im not up every 2hours feeding ive noticed im not producing as much milk, and its been getting less and less each morning as he wakes for his feed.
Im fine feeding him till around 2pm and then it feels as though ive nothing there and he just crys constantly i try feeding him and hes never satisfied and theres literally nothing there, ive tried drinking alot more and pumping after each feed but it seems to be getting worse not better.
last night i finally give in and went to get him some formula which i was gutted about i really didnt want to give him it but by the time i had got it and made a bottle up he just cried himself to sleep at 11pm, and slept through but woke very hungry at 5:30 i was just able to feed him till he was happy and he nodded off again for a few hours.
Is there anything i can do to try and produce more for him?

sorry for the long ramble

Are you generally healthy and looking after yourself? Eating well? Porridge oats are a good one - you could eat them for supper.

:hugs: Hang in there honey - you've done so well to get to this point.

Can I ask what makes you think you aren't producing enough milk?

I feel I'm not making enough because mostly when I feed him he's crying and whining while i'm feeding so I swap him over and he does the same till he falls aslee p plus my breast would get hard every few hours so I would have to pump them. They don't anymore and I can't feel anything in them. I don't need to wear pads anymore even at night it just seems like it's all stopped.
Another reason is in a morning he's not got wet nappys and I don't need to change them as often before. He's put on weight well but I just can't help worry I'm not providing enough for him.

:hugs:

The reason you dont need pads or feel full anymore is because your BFing is fully established at this point. Your boobs dont fill and empty anymore - they produce it on demand. So put that out of your head as that's exactly what you would expect after 3 months.

My LO used to have much wetter nappies than she does - they would be really heavy and they arent anymore. So as long as you are getting wet ones over the course of the day I wouldnt get too concerned.

How long has it been happening for?? I wouldnt be suprised if it were a growth spurt. If you can stick with it and keep feeding your supply will adjust hun. :)
