Hi Ladies,

I'm beginning to get really upset about my babies formula and I just dont know what to do anymore!

I managed to breast feed for 3 months towards the end I did one feed of formula (cow and gate). Then at 3 months I moved her totally onto formula. My partner and I began to notice a rash and dry skin, also she was sick all the time. I had a feeling she may be allergic to formula so I took her to the doctors. I was prescribed soya.

For 3 weeks she was on soya and the health visitor came around, she was shocked I had soya. She said I should have her on Nutrigen. So I then switched her to this milk, then a rash started to appear so I moved her back to the soya (after checking with the doctor). He suggested soon to try normal formula again, I have tried it today and the rash had covered from her chin down to her hips.

I'm so upset to have to keep changing milk and I dont want her to be missing vital vitamins and ruining her little tummy.

I have thought of trying to get my breast milk back and starting solids so I can cut out formula's, but my body stopped producing enough milk so I doubt that would be possible.

Has anyone else had a similar siutuation?

I really would appreciate any advice.

Thanks xxx

im not sure hun but tbh im not sure why if she was fine on soya they told you to change, and as she was ok with soys can she not just go back on it?

My sisters lil girl was on soya due to allergies to normal formula and she was fine on it hon. You know your girl better than anyone, so if you feel your daughter was best off on soya, then go back to it and stick to your guns hon. Better for her to be happy and healthy than to keep switching and worrying about its consequences x :hugs:

My LO started on normal formula, was terrible collicky and had a rash and awful wind. I had a dairy intolerance as a baby, so put my LO onto Soya formula. When I told my GP what I had done, he referred to a dietician, who in short said there were better formulas than Soya (Nutramigen I think), and to reintroduce cows milk formula so we could get a stool sample to test for intolerances. I gave 1 bottle of cows milm formula, and LO was screaming in pain, had explosive nappies and his rash was back. I decided to go straight back to Soya, and will stick with it regardless of what the dietician said. I know my LO best and won't put him through the pain to establish what he is allergic too.
Loads of vegan babies are raised on soya milk and are just fine!

xx
