oursarah posted in Baby Club today to say she was annoyed at Boots not giving points for first stage formula. I had no idea this was the case, and another poster said it was because the government do not allow the promotion of first stage formulas, as they only want to promote breast feeding.

It was pointed out that some mothers (like me) literally cannot breast feed, and it is nobody's business to interfere and attempt to manipulate in this way anyway (government or not):growlmad:.

This link will allow you to sign a petition (I didn't write it. but there were only 4 signatures) to Gordon Brown to stop penalising parents of breast fed babies, by allowing us to collect points/use vouchers no matter how we choose to feed our children.

Signed as well :) Not sooooo fussed about the earning points, but annoyed at not being able to spend them. And that even 1 tub of formula as part of a grocery shop disqualifies you from being eligible for any "spnd £x get money off" offers.

Agree with her entirely - just one comment. What formula and how much is she having for it to cost £3 a day!!! lol Earl cost £1.60 a day tops!!

Thanks blahblahblah, great article. I also often felt awful for Evan in the beginning, because I thought 'God if he had been born in the wilderness, he would have starved'.
J xx

I've signed too!

I gave up reading the "comments" under the article when one poster had put that statistically ff babies are less intelligent that bf.
B*****ks!

My 2 elder children are very intelligent and the only illness they have had are coughs and colds!

why does it have to come to this ...does it really matter how we feed our babies as long as they are fed :growlmad:
i think the bf v ff war will go on 4eva :(

signed  Really interesting article as well, I agree with it totally. I intended to bf, but couldn't. I felt guilty enough without all the dissaproving looks and comments, mostly from strangers or people I hardly know.

Yeah, it infuriates me too, even just an innocent sounding, 'oh, so you decided not to BF then...' reeeally gets my back up!

same here, I usually get 'so you're bf her then?', and when I say no she's ff along come all the dissaproving looks. At first I used to get all flustered feeling that I had to explain myself, that I'd intended to bf but didn't produce any milk so had no choice, but now I just ignore them. Still gets to me though. :growlmad:

I'm pregnant at the moment and I would like to bf however I have made a promise to myself that if I can't bf I won't beat myself up that I can't and I don't believe anyone else should make all you lovely mummies feel remotely bad for how you feed your beautiful babies.
So I've signed and I will be telling all my family and friends to sign too. Think this petition needs a good push x

Even though I am in America, do you ladies mind if I sign the petition? I agree that it should be no one's business weither a woman breast feeds or formula feeds, especially government.

sarahhoney - not long 'til your c-section! Good luck, and you're right to just try and take things in your stride!

Go for it Britt1986!

What's it like in the USA? DO they push BF the way they do here?
