I keep reading about everyones 'hungry baby' but Alyssa is quite the opposite, still at 4 1/2 months she can range from having about 21 oz to 27oz a day, so one feed she may take 3oz others 6oz others 4oz etc... Shes alert and putting on weight fine so im not worried there... But are there any other babies without a big appetite ?

My LO went through a phase of hardly drinking anything. I got really worried about him at one point thinking he wasn't getting enough to eat.

This started at about 2.5 months and lasted till 4.

He seemed to all of a sudden start drinking more again and now he's back up to 32oz's (ish) a day.

Have you spoken to your HV about it?
x

Yeh my HV told me to stop obessing over oz's as shes putting on weight and thriving. I think i have to accept that shes not a hungry baby and will leave some if shes full. I think i have the only baby who isnt on hungry baby milk lol. Its just annoying as every bottle i make is 6oz, and if she only has 3oz, its alot wasted, and 3oz isnt alot really :( x

My LO was the same hun, and I know you cant help but worry. My LO has always been big and put weight on fine but it just doesn't seem enough milk does it ? :hugs:

My HV said if I was so bothered to spoon feed him milk  It didn't ever get that bad !

I hope her appetite picks up soon for you :)

Thanks hun. Well, i did try spoon feeding her milk yesterday when she only had 2oz before bed... That wasnt great she kept laughing as it all trickled out of her mouth ! LOL. Shes on a lactose free milk which is prescribed so whether thats more filling i dnt know.. Right.. Must... not... worry.... about..... ozs

Omar is the same, I never had a hungry baby. He takes max of 28 oz per day. I started him on baby rice 10 days back & he skipped a bottle! Yesterday & today he only managed 22 oz with one fruit jar. He's on AR formula which is thick. He's also a big baby & is thriving. He's on the 82 percentile for weight & height.

MY LO only takes between 25-28oz a day. Her last 2 bottles tonight were a
4oz then a 3oz. My HV said to me that she may not have an interest in milk anymore and i should maybe think about weaning but i'm really not sure.

william had a few weeks of hardly drinking anything and i was so worried and then he started to pick up a bit and then some days he is totally off his milk and other days he seems to have loads, recently he has started to refuse his lunchtime bottle so i have had to start giving him some baby food just so he has somethign and strangly if i try and give him a bottle at lunch time he will cry and refuse but if i give him some food he eats the lot and then drinks all his milk too, babies are so complicated

Chloe has never drunk much milk. Max she has ever taken in a day is 30oz, and that's only very recently. Until a couple of weeks ago she would only take 4oz of the 6oz bottles I made. Funnily enough she is also on Lactose Free milk as well!

Yeh, my HV said that my LO will prob be alot better at eating than drinking and i could start her if i wanted, although im going to wait until shes just over 5 months.

Louiza isn't much of a feeder either. i have mentioned it to the doc/hv but as she is gaining weight and following the line they aren't at all concerned. just some babies have smaller appetites than others (like us adults). funnily enough, my son wasn't much of a feeder either. he now eats like a horse (20 months old). don't worry hun.

Emms is just over 4 months and weighs 14 pounds, but she never drinks more than 28-30oz per day. She is alert, weeing and pooping, hitting her milestones and gaining weight so I'm not too worried.

My LO does this as well. The thing is, if I only make 3oz, then she'll 'straight pull' it and keep sucking on the empty bottle:dohh:...I make 4oz bottles at times as well but have noticed a pattern to her feeds. She doesn't take alot early in the morning so I BF. On evenings she BFs until bedtime but will take about 4oz sometimes b4 going to sleep. She goes to daycare and I'm told will have about two 6oz feeds during the day along with 1-2oz of water.
Maybe you can see if your LO has a pattern.

Ive tried looking for a pattern but its soooo random, she had been taking 3oz all day so i thought, right ill make a 5oz instead of 6oz that way i wont waste 3oz, and she did what your LO did and sucked it dry LOL. Cant win... I am baffled how she has jumped a line on her weight chart with so little milk !!

her body is using what it is taking in every effectively (sp?). I used to wonder about my first born. he was only taking in 3-4 ozs at every feed but was gaining weight at some speed and jumped up the chart. bascially, he was never sick and only pooed once a day. some babies drink loads and loads, but puke it up or spend their day pooing! your wee one has a fab metabolism on her!

ahh Christine, i never thought about it like that! She doesnt sick up anything, well on the odd occasion she has. And has recently started pooing once a day

callum is the same he takes about 27oz a day, and has gained along the 35th percentile since birth. he also isnt a sicky baby and poos usually once a day.

Finlay is exactly the same, there are days where im lucky if he has 20oz, the hv doesnt seem bothered though as his still following the line

Im lucky nowadays if shes taking 20oz too. my HV also not worried, she said she will probably be more of an eater

Yeah I feel the same, trying to wait until 5 months. I have a weaning fayre to go to on Monday so I will see what they suggest but my Lo has just about no interest in milk and only seems to be interested in what I am eating.
