Please vote on my baby girl name ideas

I voted for Madeline - its lovely!

Its 'your' baby not MIL's!!

Thanks girls for all your input and support. The more Im thinking about it, the less I like any other name and the more Madeleine May just seems the right name. Just need to work on OH a bit more :winkwink:. xx

I love lillyanna, but would spell it Liliana...I have been reading a baby nameology book that says you should try to avoid double letters in a name as it means the child will tend to repeat the mistakes in life that the letter represents. Goes on to explain what characteristics each letter associates with, and gives first and last letters the greatest influence in their character.

I know it sounds a bit airy-fairy, but met a girl called Rebel, and true to her name she just creates hurdle after hurdle to deal with in her life. Also picked out a few other examples in the book and descriptions were surprisingly accurate for people close to me.

I voted Madeleine because I think it's lovely. I like Maddie as a shorter name too. Why does it matter if your Mil didn't like a girl at school, she should love her granddaughter enough to forget all about her.

I mean, I knew and hated an Amanda at school but I would never dream of telling Joseph he couldn't marry one or call his daughter that name.

Mil's and names are annoying. Ours kept pushing for Ronald because we were thinking of using Joseph after my granddad and she thought we should use DH's granddad's name as well. Then she wanted Thomas because that is FiL's name and DH's middle name.

And she outright said we couldn't use the names Romilly, Crystal or Trudy for girls because she has known and disliked a Romilly and a Trudy and she assocaites the name Crystal with the 80's TV programme Dynasty and she was watching that the night Fil almost set himself on fire by throwing an aerosol on the bonfire. Not that he did, he was fine, so I don't see the issue myself, other than that she is a drama queen.

Anyway, sorry, rant over, but if you love Madeleine or Maddie then you should use it anyway.

Thanks girls, Im thinking Madeleine, Daisy and Molly are the main contenders in that order, but IM NOT TELLING MIL!!!, (also just found out that one of my great nans was called Daisy, so it would still have a family connection). She still keeps trying to come up with names :dohh:, so far shes come up with Shelby, Nicole, Jodie, Connie (which is ok), Mercy and Christina, none of them are awful, but none of them (apart from maybe Connie) are names that I would even consider :nope:. She actually thinks she is going to get a say in it . I felt quite cornered yesterday when me and my DH went round for a coffee, I was having names thrown at me left right and centre, I just felt like telling them to f*** off :growlmad:.

She carried on slating the name Madeleine again and I pointed out to her that it was actually my nans name, she then went quite red and shut up for all of 10 seconds:haha: , I think that she had got so into telling me why she hated the name that she had actually forgotten that it is my nans name and that was the main reason for me wanting it! I also pointed out that when I hear that name I didnt know the ugly smelly kid from her school from 55 years ago and that it just reminded me of my nan, who is a lovely elegant lady who is a little bit crazy .

xx

I picked lillyanna, I have a niece named that and I love it.
