Pleased but upsetting day...

Today was a strange day....

Erin (my 3 year old) had a cardiology appointment (hole in the heart at birth), today was a clincher, if things hadnt started to get better then they may need to think about operating. Well it was GREAT news, things are REALLY REALLY good, fantasitc in fact and the hole has closed completely.... Did not expect that and was so happy Good news for a change.

The bit that made it hard was that the hospital she went to is Yorkhill childrens hospital, which has a maternity hosp attached, so LOADS of preg women, Loads of small babies and kids. As we were coming out of Cardiology there was a baby going in, he was in a NICU bed, he was so so small. Not much bigger than Gillian was, he looked so poorly. My heart sank and I burst into tears.

I think it was a mixture of being so releaved that Erin was ok (well her heart is ok, she has a couple of other probs) and seeing this tiny tiny baby and thinking about his poor mum and what she must be going through.

I do not know them, but wish I could send them so much love just now.

Your compassion is overwhelming, it's a beautiful thing. I'm so glad that Erin is well, that's excellent news. You probably know so much about what those families are going through that it's just heartbreaking. Your doll is proof that good things can happen to sick babies. I even cringe when I see newly pregnant women and think about all the hardships they don't have a clue about, nor should they.

Aw bless you and you daughter. Thats great news for her and you must be over the moon....but I completly understand your sadness at the little babies esp when you ave been thro that. My little girl was in nicu for a while after she was born with an infection so i too well know the heartache of having a poorly baby.
Just remember not always the outcome is bad....it will be a hard journey for them but there odds these days are great.
