POLL: Hints that labor is near

Hi everybody!!

I don´t know if this has happened to you, but every time you read about the early signs of labor, every book and article talks about losing the mucus plug, bag of waters breaking, frequent contractions, etc... But what happens before these??....

What about the little hints that let us know labor is close???

For instance, I´ve been having this constant sharp pain in my cervix combined with increased pressure, and my aunt told me she felt the same a few days before she went into labor.... as a first time mom I don´t have much idea of what to expect...

Please share if you noticed any changes before going into labor...

Sorry I didn't get any signs what so ever, my waters popped while I was lay down in bed and ds was born 22 hours later xxx

Oddly with my first my labor started just like my moms did with my brother I was having contractions every 3 min and lost my mucus plug. All started because I had sex. Myth? I don't think so! I did until it happened to me! The mucus plug loss can be a good indicator that labor is just ahead of you it usually falls out and within the next week you tend to go into labor!

I don't remember having any real signs with my first. I lost my mucus plug a little at a time, usually while I was sitting in the bath tub a little would fall out. I never had any BHs, or cramps or anything really. He also never really "dropped". I was just sitting around one night and my contractions started 5 minutes apart. My water didn't go until almost 24hours later.

I had all sorts of signs but It's hard to say if they were signs I was getting ready for labour or just signs I was 41 weeks pregnant lol .

I was two weeks overdue so spent a LOT of time symptom spotting. The ONLY thing that was any kind of sign that labour was near for me was waking in the early hours to use the loo and seeing blood on my underwear. That was my 'show' and I had my first contraction about 10 minutes later.

I had ZERO signs. For at least two weeks before I was induced, I was having contractions that would fizzle out, always in the middle of the night. Loose bowels, bump dropping, all that, no baby. We dtd around 3am on 40+4, and then around 2pm ish on 40+5. I started getting really mild cramps, then around 8pm some bleeding, no mucous, so called the midwife and they had me go in, and was induced early the next morning of 40+6. Waters broke a few hours before she was born.

I didn't have any signs that I noticed but I did feel the need to go to bed fairly early the night before I went into labour and I had probably one of the best sleeps during my pregnancy. I woke up in the morning with a niggle and then it turned into labour (took me a while to actually believe I was in labour though).

With DD I lost some of my mucus plug and had some pink spotting, then my water broke 10 days later. Now with this one it's an different story. I've been losing my mucus plug for almost 3 weeks (no blood in it though), and had some spotting in my underwear at 36 weeks. They checked me and I was 1.5cm dilated...that was over 2 weeks ago and I'm still very pregnant.

I had no signs at all. Stormy day, when water broke while I was "peeing" heard a "pop" and gushing warm water. Then I went into my moms kitchen and more water gushed out. I never lost my mucus plug either.

I went home, showered, packed, waited for my husband and headed to the hospital. Right as my husband got home and when my contractions started. So a good hour from my water breaking to contraction time.
