Not sure if this is in the right place but...I do both, she BF's all day long but for her last feed of the night I give her formula. I think I may have to switch back to strictly breast though, it seems to me like her digestive system might be getting confused if that makes sense. Theres been a couple days where I'll not realize what time it is and BF as her last feeding and she actually seems to sleep better but thats not whats making me want to do it. She didn't have a bowel movement at all yesterday. Its the first day since we brought her home that she hasn't had one. She normally gives us 2-3 a day and yesterday nothing!

She has colic so I don't know if that has anything to do with it? Is there anything I can do to help her go or should I just get her to the Dr.? Afraid if I do that though it'll have to be the ER this evening because my husband is in the Army and its his first day back since we've had her and since we have army doctors that take care of us she can't see her pediatrician without an appointment.

She has her 2 wk appt. on the 17th but I can't let her go that long without a poo and I am aware of this! But its definitely something I'm gonna bring up to her Dr. I've read that BF babies sometimes don't have as much poo as FF babies do and my mom told me that all of us did that to her and she was probably fine. But I still have to ask...is there anything I can do to help her go? And it couldn't be her colic causing this could it? thanks in advance ladies!

It could be the formula making her poo a bit more solid (most probably because of the added iron), if you are happy to then i would suggest cutting out the formula all together. Give it a day or 2 and she should be back to normal, but to be honest as you said it is totally normal for b/f'd babies to go several days without a poo even if they have done them every day before.

If you feel she is getting bloated and uncomfortable from it you could try a bit of tummy massage or a warm bath, but i find the more breast milk i give Amelia the more she will poo!
