I give up! Feel like I'm banging my head up against a brick wall. We have tried to potty train DS a few times now. When we have a day at home we will always leave him nappy free! Trouble is, he refuses to wee or poo on the potty whatsoever.

He knows exactly what it's for, he has done 1 poop on the potty and that is it! He will wait until his night nappy is on then release a whole days worth of pee into it.

Also for the last week. Every night he will wait until he's been put into bed, then poops so we have to change him (delaying going to bed) but sometimes up to 4 times! Each poo is normal size too!

Anyone else have problems like this, he's 3 in November btw, and stubborn like you'll never know!! :nope:

Help!!!!

Both of my kids seem to do this, but our oldest is the worst about it. He's 3.5. He is a very manipulative little thing though. The pediatric psychiatrist noticed it within 10min of seeing him. He told his teacher today that he had a fever so he had to go home. Of course he had no fever and hadn't been sick in the slightest. It seems like toddlers have more control over their bowels than adults. I'm not sure if my oldest does it because he's trying to delay bed time or that he would prefer to poop in a diaper, after being in underwear all day, than to do it on the potty. I think it can go either way. Our youngest hasn't had a pee accident in a couple weeks, but still refuses to poo on the potty. It's a tough age! I've been told it get's easier as they get older and I've been told it just gets different. Mine aren't old enough to have much of an opinion either way. Some days it seems easier and some days not easier, just different challenges from when they were infants. I can't offer much advise, but I can sympathize!

Not so much pooing at bed time but his latest thing is telling me he has a tummy ache at bedtime to try delaying it.
LO also refuses to use the potty exept one time and he seemed realy shocked about weeing in it that time, although according to MIL he uses the potty over there all the time (yeah right)

Ruby did the bedtime poo thing for ages, very tedious! She had been dry in the day ages then one day she had a poo accident which really upset her, and she pood on the toilet after that.

If I were you, I would just go back to using nappies for a while. It seems as though he is reluctant to move over yet and I'd be worried if that by doing something earlier than expected he's struggling with it?

We tried to potty train our DS earlier than he was originally ready. Although he'd done a few on the potty, he would still have the occasional accident.

On our final attempt we were successful, but it was more because he was telling us that he needed to have a wee or a poo and we introduced a sticker chart and he got to stick stickers all over his potty (outside of course )

It worked for him and similarly for our little girl (we never attempted her - she was the one that told us and tried to take her nappy off) she was copying her brother though.
