Hi ladies, I would really appreciate some help with this one...

Poppy has been my favourite girls name since I was a child but now that I'm expecting I'm slightly concerned about the popularity of the name right now...

My only other option is Charlotte (lottie) but I'm not sure if that is really popular at the moment too? I love the name Elizabeth (Libby, bess) but oh is not keen.

What are your thoughts on the names and their popularity?

I have a son called William (Billy) so any suggestions for girls names that go nicely would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hayley

Also, didn't realise that William was such a popular name when we chose it!

Nickname Lottie is so cute. I actually like the name Lottie as it is. It's one of my favourite names :) I'm not a huge fan of Poppy, and think Charlotte sounds better with William :flower:

Lottie is cute as a nickname but I also think Charlotte is a beautiful name. :)

Thanks ladies...

Do you know of many kiddies named poppy or lottie?

I know two girls named poppy, one is 12 and one is 9, don't know any babies called Poppy, I do know two charlottes that are 18 months and 3 years.

I know 2 Poppys. Love both names but think Lottie wins for me :-) x

I know several Poppy's. I think it's a cute name but I'm not sure how well it would ate with a person.

I prefer Charlotte and think it goes better with William. And Lottie is an adorable nickname!

Out of those 3 choices I pick Elizabeth - Elizabeth & William go well together. I love the nickname "Libby" - so cute! Billy & Libby also go perfectly!

I'm guessing you live in the UK? The name Poppy is unheard of in the US. If you name a child Poppy in the US, she may be the ONLY one in the country! :haha: (Seriously, I looked it up on the US census for the past 100 years and the name has never even made the Top 1000 list!)

Charlotte is ok... but has def risen in popularity!! Seems quite popular at the moment. I'm personally not a fan of Charlotte/Lottie or Poppy.

DD is called Violet and we call her Lottie sometimes. I know one other Violet nn Lottie and 2 older Carlottes nn Lottie- one is 7 and the other is about 12 I think. I don't know and little Carlotte's who go by Lottie. I know an adult Poppy and there is a little girl my DS's age who goes to playgroup called Poppy. I love both names :)

We are using Lottie or Isadora for little one and I cant decide either people keep telling me to wait till shes here

I'm a Lottie although full name is Charlotte on birth certificate but have always been known as Lottie which I don't mind. Find Charlotte a nice name but I guess because I've always been known as Lottie I prefer that!

I love Poppy as name too though.

Lottie is lovely, poppy is nice too but a lot more popular so I would go with Lottie :)

I like them both, but I think I'd go with Charlotte/Lottie. It leaves more nickname options (Lottie, Charlie, etc), whereas Poppy is just Poppy. I feel like Charlotte works a little better for an adult, as well, but if Poppy is popular in her age group, that wouldn't matter so much because all her peers will also be adult Poppies, and it will be normal for them.
