Popular names

I'll be honest, popularity puts me off.

I know it's probably because of my own name. I'm Vanessa and growing up there were no other Vanessa's in my year group at school, in fact even to this day I've only met one other. I loved having a unique name and I still think it's so pretty, so I wanted more unique names for my children.

We chose Noah for my eldest when it was more unusual and since then it's popularity has gone through the roof :dohh: Still, I wouldn't ever change it, I love it and it suits him so well. I can't see that happening with Milo thankfully.

For future babies we will still look for more uncommon names.

I haven't ever checked the popularity of Callum's name, it wouldn't have changed my mind anyway. I love the name so I used it, personally Isabella is one of my favourite names ever and I wouldn't hesitate to use it if OH agreed and if baby #2 was a girl

As one of many in my year I hated my very popular name and wouldn't choose a popular name myself, or at least not a top ten name. For a girl anyway. I don't think boys mind as much. OH's name is Chris and of course every second baby boy born in 1992 was a Chris so it's very common but didn't bother him.

you know i was kinda the opposite

My name is Janet, so not exactly common especially as I am only 22. Never have I met another Janet that isn't a pensioner and honestly I hated it, I was picked on because my name was not considered "normal" and it was horrible, I think really uncommon names can actually be worse than common for sure.
