Made these for lo, but they were rubbery. I assumed they would be more chewy or like flapjacks?
also they tasted awful. the blw cookbook says add raisins. but at what age are raisins safe?
any other tips on cooking or flavouring?
also which oats are best to use

They are quite rubbery and don't taste great on their own. My LO enjoyed them plain in the earliest days but I soon started livening them up a bit. We add ground almonds (could try other nuts) or spread with sugar-free (100% fruit) jam or mashed banana and cinnamon or I drizzle on a little blackstrap molasses. I think you are supposed to leave raisins until around 8 months (I might be wrong though).

I couldnt get those porridge fingers to work out either!!

My LO wasnt interested in raisins til he could pick them up with his pincer grip and eat them himself, so from 9 months on:flower:

we had raisins here from 6 months.

porridge fingers i use tesco value porridge oats, exual part milk/oats & now shes over 1 i add honey.. before i used to spread with jam, or a springle of sugar or marmite, smooth peanut butter & once even dairylea :dohh:!! xx
