So on my due date whicu was wednesday the 14th, i had a sweep. That evening i started getting early mild contractions about 8 minutes apart so we took our son to the in laws ajd went to bed. At 2am i awoke thinking "darn it.must have stopped" but then within minutes i had a much stronger one so i think i was sleeping through the mild ones. I then got up and began bouncing on my ball. They started coming quickly every 3-5 minutes so i called my midwife who came around 4am and checked me. I was 3 cm. She left to go get some rest while it was still early and suggested we do the same. I went in the tub and stayed there for 3 hours. My contractions slowed to every 8 minutes again but were decently intense. It went on like this all day and night on thursday..i had 28 hours of labour total as she was posterior and not descending.. i used my tens and that helped with the bavk labour but not the front. then at 10 pm thrsday night my midwife came back and checked me again...after all that labour and pretty intense contractions i was only 4cm and 80-90% effaced...i was gutted. She suggested i take a gravol to relax between contractions and see what happens once i get some rest. I did that ans slept between contractions for 3 hours!! I woke for every contraction then slept again until the next. Finally at 1:30 am friday morning i had enough...mentally and physically i was exhausted after 26 hours of labour so my midwife agreed to another check then we would discuss options. I was still 4 cm so she agreed to break my water to help move things along and the next contraction was Awful!! I started asking to go to the hospital for an epi and saying i couldnt do it...all along thinking i was only 4 cm and couldnt take these contractions that were so strong they were making me sick for another 6 cm... I had wanted a home birth but here its law that u have to have 2 attendants present for homebirth and the only other midwife was on vacation so leslie my midwife called the hospital to tell them i was in active labour and to expect us at some point...she then suggested we wait and go after i tried the bathtub at home to help with the pain as she knew i really didnt want drugs as part of my birth plan due to everything that happened with my first birth and figured at the hospital i would have given in. So i went in the tub and after 2 contractions i felt soooooooo much pressure and asked leslie if it was possible that i could be ready...she said "possible, nnot probable" but agreed to check me while i was in the tub and said "oh my, u are almost fully dialated" so i went from 26 hours of early labour to transition contractions coming every 2 minutes as soon as she broke my water!!!! I then looked at her and said "im not going to the hospital!!" And she agreed and started to bring everything in for a homebirth...she then called paramedics to come stand by since it is law to have 2 attendants. While she was on the phone i felt baby crowning and she came in and passed the phone to dh as the operator was obeying protocol despite it not being an emergency and making them stay on the phone until the paramedics arrived. Baby was coming fast and dh got up by my head and the paramedics walked in just as her head was delivered!! I didnt even push...my bosy knew what to do!! One more tiny push and she was out...since i was on all fours in my tub, leslie had to catch her rather than myself and i turned and she put her on my chest!! So leslie broke my water at 4cm at 2:20 am and she was born at 3:31am!!! Breaking my water was just what sye needed to turn from posterior to anterior!! Had we gone to the hospital we would have had a car birth!! So i got my homebirth regardless of how it happened!! I had one tiny tear that did not require stitches . Tenley had apgars of 10 and 10 and self latched within half hour and has been nursing like a champ ever since!. Despite the long labour...my homebirth was amazing and relaxed and i wouldnt want it any other way!! I just had a baby yesterday and this morning i was ip getting myself and my son breakfast like it was nothing!! My dh was a rock through the whole thing and is soooo great as a daddy!! I feel soo blessed!!

Here she is!!
