Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and new to all pregnancy stuff as myself and my partner are trying for a baby for the first time. We have been trying for a while but under a year I just have a few questions as I am thinking that I could be but I just wanted some advice.

Firstly I keep feeling cramps some are stronger than others just like being on a period. The cramps range from being at the lower stomach where the pubic hairline starts and sometimes it can be in the center and near rib cage. There are strange feelings all around the tummy area like a pulling tight feeling. I also feel like a period is coming but I am not due until the 13th March. Also when the cramping's occur it sometimes feel that I need to do a number 2 (sorry tmi) but nothing comes out and very gassy and that sometimes relieves the cramps. There is also some nausea and sometimes I get white discharge which is stretchy and other times its not, sometimes it can be watery and my underwear can be soaked! Once after DTD a clump of discharge was there and I couldnt stretch it like the normal stuff, is that a sign of pregnancy.

At times I wonder if I even am pregnant I'm not sure if we are DTD enough should we be dtd every day? I would like some advice from you ladies with experience. sorry again if any of this is tmi I dont mean to offend anyone just i'm new to all this.

Hey,

Welcome to BnB :)

I am not as experienced as others here although like you, have been trying for a while - not quite a year just yet though. I hope I can help a bit but also hopefully others with more knowledge will pop by!

The discharge you talked about and the difference in it, sounds a lot like what people experience over their cycle and different types of discharge usually point to a specific time during ovulation. Like people will experience egg white CM (cervical mucus I think??) usually just before ovulation and that suggests to them that they are very fertile and so on.

Cramping can be a sign of pregnancy, definitely! It can also sometimes be ovulation pain, so again it would depend where it was in your cycle.

If you are due on the 13th, we are at the same place in our cycle and on average would like have just ovulated - it's usually on day 14 but every woman can be different which is why women often take ovulation tests, temp etc to pinpoint it exactly.

I've seen lots of different recommendations on how often you should DTD and I know it should usually be every other day at least during fertile time. Some people recommend only every other day to help keep the sperm count higher but others do daily as well. It's such a minefield!!

Have you tried using any apps on your phone or online like fertility friend? That can help you navigate all this tricky stuff.

xx

If your period isn't due until the 13th, that means you either JUST ovulated like, yesterday, or are going to today or tomorrow. There is no way for you to be pregnant right now.

I am in same limbo...cd45 no AF...just same cramps....I don't think mine is o cramps as its been going for 2weeks.....I just feel so down....

Thank-you for your responses.

I must say though that I have been advised that you can get pregnant at anytime of the month so that is why I was thinking that it MAY have been possible.

Tink I have not heard of Fertility friend or any of the apps I will have a look thank-you for those tips.

I actually don't know if I even am ovulating, even though there is CM there. I think I was a little Naive to think that it would happen a lot quicker so I am sometimes thinking that something may be wrong with me.

You can have sex at many times in the month, and still become pregnant. However, you won't actually be pregnant until sperm meets egg, when you ovulate, which for most women won't be until around the 14th day of their cycle (14 days before their next period starts, usually). Then, you wouldn't be actually 'pregnant', as in you wouldn't show up as pregnant on a pregnancy test until at least a week or two after that.

I found fertility friend amazing, and I would also recommend the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Weschler (https://www.tcoyf.com/) I learned SO MUCH from that book, and probably will re-read it soon as a refresher!

I think most of us have probably been there, in the early days of us TTC! I know I certainly believed that it would be a lot easier than it has been and like you, I also get anxious that there must be something wrong with me that is stopping conception.
I guess coming on here helps me to feel more grounded in that sense as you see that there are many other couples going through similar, rather than in everyday life where you just seem to see pregnant ladies everywhere but of course don't know their story!
