Potentially facing male factor infertility...

Hi ladies, not sure if I'm posting this in the right spot, but anyways here is my story...

My husband and myself have been ttc since my mc just before new years and we've had no luck. He recently had an SA done and unfortunately the results were not good. Motility was very good but count was under 5 million

He got referred to a specialist so we'll be making an appointment for after we get back from vacation in a week.
I'm just wondering if anyone else on here has gone through anything similar? Or has a success story to share?
I'm really scared because from all the Googling I've been doing it seems like he'll either have to have a procedure done or we'll have to consider ivf. But we'll have to see what happens at the appointment

Hi, a friend of mine might have been in the same boat. I only know that male factor was the issue, and they visited ivf clinic in Gdansk, cos of prof. Luk**shuk to start treatment.

A lot of where you go from here will depend on what's causing his low numbers. It can be as simple as a minorish illness that once he's well enough his numbers will rebound, or a permanent change.

Your previous conception (although I'm so sorry to read it ended in a loss) is actually a really good sign that it'll be possible with little to no assistance. May take a bit longer, but 5-6 months ttc since then with no luck isn't seen as out of the ordinary even with ideal health for both of you.


Starting out your best bet will be to get another SA done in two months time and I truly hope that's all the specialist recommends at this point (along with continuing healthy diet and lifestyle habits of course). That'll tell you if the low count was temporary or something you'll need to address with some help. Our issue was male factor and my husbands count averaged 12 million. We also had morph and motility issues to contend with though so after trying for a year and a half, attempting hyperovulatory meds and going through three failed IUI cycles we ultimately found success with IVF. I'd have definitely given it more time if we'd ever conceived naturally because IVF truly is a journey to avoid if at all possible for so many reasons.

Hi there, I could of written your story too.
My DF recently was diagnosed with low sperm count, 5 million + poor motility. We're now hard core healthy lifestyle + weightloss + supplements hitting before a repeat in a few months in the hope that things pick up. Also had some spillage at collection so things may be slightly better that they appear...
We also had a loss in November at 5 weeks so were blindsided by this.
Really traumatic time and can completely relate to not knowing what your future holds. X

Thank you so much ladies for your responses sorry I didn't reply sooner, I was on vacation and was also just too upset to come back on the forums. Tomorrow my husband will be setting up his first appointment with the urologist, not expecting answers right away but at least we'll be getting the process started
