Potty training a newborn!!!

Incidentally, it doesn't have to be all or nothing. Most people I know who use EC use nappies some, or even most of the time. It really isn't as difficult or time consuming - certainly no more than changing a nappy. Plus, I never had to change a pooey nappy from 10 months, that has to be worth it!

We did EC with our lo, and like you have only had to change a handful of poopy nappies since she was 7months. I didn't do it over the sink... thought that was a bit gross, but got a potty instead :thumb up:

Yes, you have to have the time to be able to read the babies cues, but it made life for me much easier. I still put her in a nappy and am totally unfussed about whether she pees in the toilet or nappy. Some days she will wear the same nappy all day... others I'll change her every time. Mainly depends who is with her and where we are/ what we are doing.

She is aware of it though, so she will ask to go to toilet when she wants and when she's ready I'll change her to big girl undies- again up to her.

i have just read this thread and am quite surprised at how negative some people are just because it's something they wouldn't do or don't quite understand. It can't in any way harm your baby and obviously can't be completely pointless as there are many cultures that practice it. It kind of reminds me of the old colonial attitude of how " we civilised do things so much better than the uncivilized natives " I personally wouldn't do it, but think it's really interesting.
