We started potty training our son last Saturday and up to now he's been doing really well, he went to nursery with just his undies on and only had 2 minor accidents all day. I was just wondering what do I do while out and abut at weekends?? I didnt really want to use pull ups on him incase it confuses him, I was debating getting a travel potty, has anyone had much success with them or have any other ideas??? My son is 2 and a half. Thanks!

Hi we took a potty out and about just incase Toby needed too go and we wasnt near a loo. Sounds like your LO is doing really well!!! xxxx

i just sat my daughter on the toilet when out and about you can get fold up plastic travel toilet seats to go over the top of an adult toilet, which are small enough to put in your bag.

definitely do not use pull ups, thats the worse thing you could do x

i would also make sure she went to the loo before we left the house!!! xxx

ive just read jo frosts guide to potty training in a week and she said get a travel potty and dont put them in nappies of any form to ensure there is not any confusion

I just sat Alice on public loos, or if we were at a park, I held her so she could wee on the grass. As they get more used to it, they can hold on longer. Just make sure you use opportunities when they're available even if they haven't asked to go. Pretty much, if there was a loo near by, I took Alice to sit on it!

We got a travel potty but I actually wish I had saved the money. Thomas will only really use it if I bring him into the public toilets. So I could probably have got away with just sitting him on the toilet. Just take every opportunity when you are passing a toilet just bring them in to try and go. Thomas hasn't had an accident out and about since the first two days of potty training!

I also bought cloth training pants online and by the time they arrived he was trained so I sent them back!

I just took a potty out with us, most of the time if we passed a toilet I would take her to get her used to it. I have only had to use the potty once whist out.

I used to cart the toddler toilet seat with me until he was comfortable sitting on the loo.

The potty went in the car and still lives there for emergencies
