Ok.

I'm gonna bottle feed my LO when she arrives, I have decided to try cow and gate.

Now... I have bought a few small cartons of the concentrate. How long should I use this for? As the powder isn't sterile is it?

Also does anyone know roughly how much cheaper using the powder is compared to the cartons?

Hugs in advance :hugs:

Powder is MASSIVELY cheaper. (But I'm in the UK, and I notice you mention 'concentrate', which we don't have here, just cartons that you pour straight into the bottle)

The powder is not sterile, no, but if you make it up according to the pack instructions, i.e with HOT water, (boiled then cooled for about half an hour) then that sterilises it.

I use ready made because I am lazy and I find it costs me about £65 a month.

I'm in the UK too hun, its just my m/w was calling the ready mix cartons concentrate and I have got into that habit!

I might use the cartons for the first couple of weeks then, or until I know she is ok with it then get the powder but use the ready mix if we go out.

Thankyou. x

we did both :)

luisa started formula feeding at 4 weeks and at first we was using 1 large carton of c&g a week costing £7

i then tried cartons and was using 1 500ml carton a day costing £1.05 each and two 200ml cartons (for wen out) costing 52p each so each day £2.09 per day = £14.63 per week

powder £7 per week
cartons £14.63 per week

like claire i hate messing with water waiting for it to cool etc.. but the cost being double is alot for us so now i use both... cartons wen ever i am out and then cartons and powder wen at home.. depending on water being boiled etc...

no idea what we spend now cos i just top up wen needed :)

With jamie we used the stuff you pour straight into the bottle it cost a fortune though lol

We use Powder as its so much cheaper!! It takes no time at all to boil the kettle and make the bottles so ive never had a problem with it!!

Im against cartons after there was a problem when i had amber with them. Just totally put off ever buying them.
We got 1 once, before all that, amber refused to have it, even though "classed" as same stuff, obviously didnt taste same to her.
