Tues night I woke up in a puddle and I've been in the hospital ever since. I will be here until I have Ben. I got both steroid shots to mature his lungs and we have made it to 33 wks, but I am still apprehensive because he has to be induced on the 9th at 34 wks if he isn't born before then. I've never had a premature baby and I'm not sure what to expect. They said he would probably come home on his due date. His scan showed he was 4 lbs 7 oz on Wed. For those of you who have had a preemie what can I expect at 33 wks?

Hi Hun I gad exactally the same thing pprom I was induced at 34 weeks he was 5.6 had to have a feeding tube was only a couple if days then he was able to suck on his own he never needed special care and we were out in a week good luck hun

no advice, but wanted to let you know i am wishing you and baby all kinds of good luck!

Oh that would be awesome if he did that well. They were telling me he'd most likely be in NICU until his due date so I didn't know they could go home so quickly!

I had my daughter on 10th march after pprom, she was 3lb 12oz at 32 weeks. We did NICU for 3 weeks and she was let out at what would have been 35 weeks. This was considered a short stay for her gestation. I have had a 33 weeker also, who was 4lb 12oz and in for 10 days so I'm guessing there's a big difference between a 32 weeker and 33 weeker.

Are they testing your LO's lung maturity? After my water went they took a sample of the amniotic fluid and sent it to the lab to test for maturity, if it had come back as immature then they wouldnt have induced me at 32 weeks. Big hugs and good luck hun:hugs:

No they haven't tested to see if his lungs are mature. They just gave me the steroid shots and said he'd have to come out when I hit 34 wks. He's looking good on the monitor and we're hanging in there for now!

Getting to 34 weeks is great, and having the steriods, they really do help. I had my two boys alot earlier, and yes Connor didnt survive but he was very early and not classed as viable and fell asleep after 2 and a half hours but Harry, born 3 weeks later, at 24 weeks, he is now nearly a year old!!!!

Because you have had the steriods, hopefully, baby will only need a little bit of help with feeding and keeping warm, although all babies do differ.
Praying for a healthy baby xxxxx

hi i had prom at 31wks and they induced me at 34wks tho my dd was small for her gestation at only 3lb 10oz shes only had a feeding tube and a drip to get the nutrients into her but after 12days she was allowed home as she was feeding really well. They always tell you the baby will come home on there due date so as not to disappoint incase things went wrong, your baby is a gd weight for 33wks so im sure all will be good and he will b home with u sooner rather than later

That is so encouraging. I am still sitting here feeling perfectly normal after 6 days in the hospital without any contractions. I've managed to stay pregnant this long! They will be doing a biophysical profile tomorrow so that should give us an update on the fluid level and his weight. He still looks beautiful on the strip and is active in there! Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers everyone!
