My, what a week it's been!! I had my GTT done and despite doctor scaring the life out of me, it turns out my results were fine....phew!!

However, I popped into to see nurse (not MW) on Weds to have my bp checked and it was 150/80 which they said was high for me and I was showing a trace of protein in my urine.
They sent me to the hospital, and my bp there started at 148/91, but dropped to 126/54 by the time I left.

I had some slight swelling, but nothing horrendous, but have had blurry vision.
Can anyone advise what I should be looking out for? How often I should be monitored etc.?

Many Thanks xxxx

I too was sent to hospital this week to check as I had one + in urine and a bp of 160/98, but at 25 weeks it's really early to get PET.

I got given a leaflet all about the signs of PET so ask your midwife for the same leaflet. But basically, swelling, blurred vision, frontal headaches are all concerns you should phone your MW about

I think your MW should check BP every week until it gets resolved. I'll be asking mine next week.

I had severe preeclampcia, but did not have any symptoms except the higher blood pressure and protein in the urine. Mine was 160/90 then after laying down in my hospital bed it was a normal blood pressure, but still had 10x the amount of protein in my urine. I delivered him at 35 and 2 days and was monitored at the hosp for 4 days till I was induced.

Blimey, that must have been scary :(
I will keep on at my MW to have my BP and my urine checked regularly xxxx

Hi! I was rushed to hospital at 37weeks as my normal BP of 120/70 had shot up to 160/110!! I had swelling of my hands/feet but thought that was normal. I also saw the flashy lights and had one dizzy episode but that was it. I was always told that dizzyness, seeing lights/spots, and swelling were the main things to watch out for.xx

I had severe pre eclampsia which i didnt know i hud until i was in hospital. I went in with severe pains at the top of my bump and they told me my bp was 200/160 and i had mega protine in my wee. I was in hospital 3 days earlier and had no problems what so ever and with in 3 das i nearly developed eclampsia.

Just kep your eye on things!

If you feel that things are wrong, get it checked. Hospitals and doctors can be inconsitent. I had severe PET last time and was admitted at 34 weeks and induced at 35. This time around I have labile pressures, between 160/110 and 130's/90's (my baseline was 120/78) and I have protein in my wee but no one is overly interested. The lights and headaches are ongoing and off and on during the day but as my blood tests are fine they are happy to let me go home and are not interested in medicating me.

Unfortunately the onus is on us to monitor ourselves and make sure our babies are ok. If you have those sypmtoms as mentioned above, get checked. Even if it means going in everyday. Have they done a scan to makes sure bubs is ok and flow to the placenta is ok?
