I have a csection booked for Thursday and they've given me a carbohydrate drink to drink before i go in. Just wondering if anyone has had this before and if it tastes really bad  Been told by midwife it's lemon flavour but doesn't taste that great. I just would rather know before hand how bad it's going to be lol

not heard of that before. I had an emcs with my first and might have to have another section this time round, never heard of having to have a drink before hand. be interesting to see if everywhere dose the same thing.

sorry, ive never heard of it didnt want to read and run

I was given something to drink.. I honestly don't know what it was, and I was too exhausted from all the contractions to ask.
it was anything but lemon flavour lol. it could be a different thing though...it was only a sip and had a weird tingly/gross taste.

I had an emergemcy c section and was given a liquid to drink beforehand, I dont know what it was (as I was exhausted after a 3 day labour) but it tasted like vinegar to me, it was gross but by that time it really wasnt the concern on my mind..

I had a planned csection and had to take a ranitidine tablet at 10pm night before csection and 6am day of csection. No drink though.

Xx

As above, no drink but had tablets. I wasn't even allowed water for 18 hours before the op, though I lied and drank some anyway!

As PP was told no water or food for several hours but had to take tablets . If i remember right they were to help with nausea or some such for the stomach .

I had an emcs and definitely remember drinking something in theatre, also remember bring sick immediately after it, no idea what it was for though

It was absolutely revolting.. Like paint thinner and iodine mixed.. Sorry :(

found out it was a carbohydrate drink because of not eating from the night before but it was ok tasted like flat sprite :P

Hm. I hadn't eaten in 36 hours and they only gave me some meds and a shot of something nasty for nausea. It was disgusting, but less than 1 oz. Just liquid meds, no drink.
