Just been looking at the thread in third tri about what to pack in your hospital bag.
I have had a look on ebay and there are sellerson there that do pre-packed maternity bags at quite reasonable prices, some of them are ok actually and ideal for short stays in hospital - maybe one or two nights and then if you are in any longer then i suppose your other half could always bring yuo extra in if needed.
Just thought i'd share the idea as i might consider it myself - even if it is just to get one and put it away in case of an emergency so its there and ready to grab at very short notice - prob a good idea for the men, then at least everything is in the bag and they dont have to worry about forgetting anything.
hopes this helps someone :flower:

personally I would want my own things to bring with me. Not entirely sure what you need, but I would want my own stuff like makeup etc. Have you thought about just packing a bag now and tucking it in your closet? Seems just as easy

:flower: lol, yes i suppose packing a bag early and putting it away would certainly be just as good and def more personal - which i suppose is what you want at that time - suppose a pre-packed one is/could be a lazy option

I think some people go crazy with those things! I'll be packing a change of clothes, something to give birth in, make up, and shampoo/conditioner. And an outfit or two for baby. Don't think I'll need much more than that!

dont forget breast pads and maternity pads - i went through loads and loads of these with my first two, especially the maternity pads, but yes i agreeit can be easy to go overboard and its best to keep things simple otherwise you'll be bringing back loads of stuff you didnt need

Any time I went in was like going on hols u need a bag for labour ward then a bag for recovery ward can't see them bags having everything u need in them.

i took 2 bags with me - one for me and one for baby, baby's bag was just a small one tho

these sound a good idea. i would get one but i love packing bags :) half the fun of a big event like holiday, wedding, .... birth.... is putting things in and out of your bag i think :)

Wherever you're planning to give birth, keep a list of important numbers in your handbag or near the phone. You need to include:
• Your hospital or midwife's phone number.
• Your partner or birth partner's phone number.
• Your own hospital reference number (it will be on your card or notes). You will be asked for this when you phone in.
Cook some meals to put in freezer before going to hospital – couple of weeks or so before should be fine. Include soup, pasta dishes, stews, casseroles, shepherds pie etc.

ps. i read somewhere to use patterned towels as plain ones may mistakenly end up in the hospital laundary. x

I had my bag packed but kept having to take stuff out of it as quite a lot of labour happens at home (if it is slow like mine was), so TENS machine came back out, as did exercise ball, dressing gown etc.

WOW! How long are u staying in hospital for after babysitter born? When I had SD last year i didn't even have half as much as that and i still didnt need it all. I have Strep B so I have to go into hospital as soon as my waters break and stay in for a minimum of 24hrs afterwards. I'd suggest if u really want all that stuff that u pack it several different bags:
Labour bag - things u need during labour, first outfit for baby, couple of nappies - you cand send this home with ur partner afterwards, just transfer the things u need for overnight - slippers, dressing gown etc.

Ward bag - enough stuff for you and baby for 24hrs. I wouldn't bother with the baths on the ward, they're not normally very clean, bubble bath will aggregate any stitches etc. Best to have a shower and even then i'd wear flip flops!

Extended stay bag - enough stuff for a couple of extra nites just in case - this can stay in the boot of the car and partner can bring it in if and when needed.

xxxx

Just seen that my phone decided to put babysitter instead of babys - stupid thing! Lol x

this is just based on a list that was on the nhs website. i would rather go over prepared than under. even if i dont use half of it it wont matter. it will just go home with me and i would raTher have things i might need but not use than leave things at home that i might need and then not have :happydance:
