Hi,

Is any of you ladies experiencing almost IBS type symptons with Pregnacare?

I want to ensure the baby is getting the right vitamins, but at the same time this is making university almost impossible :S

:)

when I first was pregnant (weeks 4 to 5) I was convinced I had IBS, my stomach was just awful for that period of time, I don't know if it was the vitamins, didn't really consider them tbh but it would make sense as I switched from the conception support to them at that time. It seems to have settled now though, I did find that when I switched to just plain food it seemed better.

I've been taking pregnacare for the last four weeks and took pregnacare conception before that, I find if I take it in the morning after my breakfast my ms is much worse and if I take it at night I can't sleep or have interupted sleep! I take it after lunch now and its not too bad. I think loose bowels can just be a lovely symptom of pregnancy and maybe its not totally down to the vits?

Constipation!! There is perhaps too much iron supplementation in Pregnacare for your irritable bowel to cope with.
Ditch the pregnacare and just take folic acid on its own if the pregnacare is making life hard for you. If you are eating a sensible diet then you don't need any of the other supplements apart from folic acid.

I'm currently around 4 weeks and these pains make me panic it's my womb cramping, rather than my intestines.

I haven't taken pregnacare today and just taking Folic Acid to see if that helps, but I suppose the rougher I am feeling it's a good sign.

I've heard the iron in pregnacare can turn stools black too, which caused a scare as some were saying it could be intestine bleeding.

:)

At the moment it is hard to manage to eat properly until I get home from university, so I have to grab food on the go, which made me a bit paranoid baby isn't getting enough supplements.

Omg i switched to pregnacare on tuesday and the next day i had diorea (sp) :o

I'm going to complete other way lol, just add lots of bloating and cramps, when I took pregnacare with my previous pregnancy I was fine :S

Oh how strange I too had an upset stomach after taking pregnacare-at the time didn't think of the vits!
Gunna stick with them though as want bubs to get as much nutrients as poss.

Me! I'm dying to go (#2) then I just can't! I'll try and stick with them and speak to my doc about what i can take to ease the constipation x

Dried fruit is quite good at getting things moving. Just eat a little at a time, though, or things van move a bit too quickly!

I alternate pregnacare with plain folic acid. So pregnacare one night and FA the next. My diet is pretty good so I should be getting everything I need from that.

I haven't taken pregnacare for 2 days now and feel much better. I'm eating more and have taken my FA. But now the constipation has kicked in and feeling gassy, which sometimes gives me a panic with all the cramping..
