OMGosh, I woke up the other morning and my mouth was killing me. I go look in the mirror to see the left side of my gums were swollen. I read up on it some and found that I may have pregancy gingivitis. It hurts to brush and flossing feels like I am stabbing my gums with a knife. I have been rinsing with mouth wash and salf water it helps a little but my goodness my mouth aches all day. It hurts to eat hard or crunchy foods. And now my gums bleed when I brush.
I was wondering if any of you ladies have or are experiancing this and if so what are you doing to help manage. I read that you should continue to brush and floss even though it hurts and I have been but I just want my old mouth back.

Oh I have had it throughout my whoooooooooooooole pregnancy. I did use the corsodyl mouthwash for a while and it stained my teeth. It's been months now, I am nearly 38 weeks pregnant and its the same. I am thinking of doing the mouthwash thing again but meh it's so gross but it does help. Dentists were useless lol.

The best thing to do is to keep your mouth clean, chew lots of gum, use mouthwash and floss. It's likely it will remain the remainder of your pregnancy.

I'm looking forward to getting my teeth back LOL.

Awe not what I wanted to hear. I don't know if I can take this through the rest of my pregnancy. I am only going to be 18 weeks tomorrow. I was tempted to go to the dentist because I read they can prescribe you some baby safe antibiotics but still I really rather not risk it but I may have too if it doesn't get better or at least somewhat tolorable.

Meeeee I had it from week 14 to about 18. Definitely keep brushing and flossing, use the corsodyl daily mouthwash not the extra strong stuff, also get some of those little interdental brushes too. And 1 last thing, Boots sell something called Gengigel, it's a little tube that costs about £6 and it's amazing stuff, I used to apply it 3 times a day from the 3rd week and within about 10 days my mouth was back to normal :-) good luck hun and definitely see the dentist if it carries on Xx

i had a bad ache in my gum the other night and after brushing my teeth noticed the bleeding gums yukky xx

Yes me!! :( my teeth are so horribly affected by pregnancy. Last pregnancy I got my first ever cavity in my life.

This time I have pregnancy gingivitis an the only thing that helps is sensodone toothpaste and mouthwash.

Also baby teething gel helps.

But omg our poor babies, it tastes HORRIBLE!! Lol

Just went to the dentist today and found out I have pregnancy gindivitis and a first time ever cavity:,( the cleaning today was awful!!! They kept having to rinse my mouth out because of the bleeding! No antibiotics were prescribed. They told me to make sure to floss well! It's awful my gums are always swalloen.

Make sure you floss and gargle with hydrogen peroxide. I do this once before bed. I have had bleeding gums, hope I don't get any cavities.

Urghhhh I had it really bad in my first pregnancy. I found using corsodyl daily mouth wash and avoiding acidic foods was a great help. Mine got to the point where my gums started to recede. It is really important to get on top of it as gum infections have been linked to cardiovascular problems, due to bacteria entering the blood stream, and higher risk of pre e.

I also got a cavity for the first time at 22 during my first pregnancy. I was heart broken! Oh the joys! Hope the symptoms improve soon for you. Xxx

My gums aren't painful bit they bleed every time I brush - v unpleasant!

I have a dental appointment later this month so I'm waiting for all sorts of problems :(

I have been flossing every night and brushing and rinsing with mouth wash. Last night was the first time it was tolorable to floss. I feel so much better and just remind myseld not to forget to do it. I think it is helping so I so do not want to skip a night. I just plan on spending an extra 20 mins in the bathroom at night just taking care on my mouth now.
THis pregnancy has been so different from my first 2 it is crazy. I think I am getting every symptom in the book this time around. Never had dental problems with the first 2. OH THE JOYS!
