pregnancy in unknown location!!!... new to forum x

Hi all,
I am new to the forum and want to tell my story and hopefully get some advice..


AF was due 22 Jan, took hpt got bfp.. I was so happy, then Sunday I started getting a brown discharge, went to a&e because 2 years ago I had an ectopic. At a&e 2 pregnancy tests Came out negative so they did blood tests but before my results come back doctor had convinced me that I had got a false positive, I was devastated and confused.. blood tests showed my hcg as 91 and progesterone 6.. he told me to visit the EPAU the next morning. At EPAU I filled out the required forms explaining previous pregnancies ect, sat down with my nurse who told me that my levels was so low I was miscarrying, and to go home and retest in 10days!!!.. I went on to mention my previous ectopic so she then decided to let me have an internal scan. Do they not read this paperwork?! .. results came back as pul.. I've never heard of it before.. the lady was so heartless, her words to me was "look you will not be having a baby from this pregnancy"! I was so upset, got told to come back 2days later for more blood tests.. and my hcg had doubled to 182!! Now got to wait till 5th Feb for another scan, I'm so confused and don't no if I'm coming or going.. has anyone had this before??? got any advice??

Also my bleeding is very light,, more pinkish in colour.. sorry if tmi

Hi hun. It sounds like the baby is somewhere other than your uterus. If they ruled out ectopic, I can't figure out where else the baby could be. Are they sure you're as far along as they say you are? Maybe they're off and the baby IS in the womb but they can't detect it just yet? I'm not sure sweety but I pray you get some answers soon!

Thanks for your reply.. I should have ovulated around the 8th and what with implantation I might only be around 2+ weeks. They haven't ruled anything out.. I just hate this waiting game.. I'm trying to think of other things but can't. Was hoping someone had a success storey that started out like mine x

The term pregnancy of unknown location is used when a gestational sac or baby cannot be seen in the uterus.

Your BHCG levels are so low I wouldn't expect to see anything in the uterus yet....thus the PUL (if it cant be seen you can't prove location)

This does not mean it is an ectopic, nor does it mean its outside the uterus.

Your pregnancy is too early to know its location

I wouldnt give up hope yet hun xxx From what I understand you would see bugger all in a scan that early??? You shouldnt be able to see the baby but maybe just a tiny sac? I hope you get a great result and the scan on the 5th is a good one x

I did a clear blue digital test yesterday, said I'm 2-3 weeks, so I no it's way to early.. just a waiting game now x

You won't see anything until your hcg is about 1000. I had similar - I had ectopic and tube removal in June. This time I bled for 3 days and had 1 sided pain. Convinced it was ectopic I went for a scan but they saw nothing - hcg was 165, I was told this is low. I thought I was going to mc but 2 days later it was 535 so they arranged another scan. That scan shown teeny tiny sac in the womb. I had 3 more scans and all was well. I sometimes think the nurses say stuff like that so you don't get your hopes up but there's no need for the comment you received! A bit of compassion is needed in these situations - I'm sure everything will be fine for you, you just need a little reassuring after the ectopic xxx

Oh, I should also say cbd also showed 3+ weeks and they saw nothing - so don't panic xxx

I had a PUL a couple of years ago and miscarried 2 days after the scan.
Really hope you get some good results x

Yes, your hcg is way too low to see anything yet. If you repeat the scan in 2 weeks I bet it will be in the right spot. As for the spotting, I hope all is well. Are you getting a repeat HCG to check if its doubling?

I've got my scan Tuesday and they should do another blood test.. I hope they do, would like to no what it is. Cause it should be 1400+ if normal. X

Hi all, just an update. Had my scan this morning and again they couldn't see anything, the nurses wanted me to have another scan 20mins later and this lady told me it's ectopic and she could see it. Now waiting for blood test results to see if it's rising, have been told I'm most likely going to have to have my tube removed, thanks for your support xxx

Hi ladies, got my phone call at 9pm, I've got to go in for surgery 2moz morning. They are going to remove my tube, but I'm ok with it. Don't think I could handle going through this again.
