I was already scared enough. I thought I'd previously had a trap door incision (U shape) during my emergency c-section. I hemorrhaged and had a transfusion...quite the adventure. Anyway, today, I saw my transferred paperwork and a doctor had written "previous classical incision." Now I'm really terrified. Does this add extra risks to the surgery? I'm already having some kind of PTSD over this since my last surgery and I'm trying to see a shrink for it! Does anyone have any experience with this? Did it go well? Any complications? Does the baby have to be premature? Please help with any information you may have. This is making me nuts.

I had a csection 1 year and 5 days after my last csection.. I had the horizontal cut both time and everything was absolutely fine, but my LO was 2 weeks early!
Both my sections were emergencies, well my first truly was emergency as baby was distressed but second wasn't an actual emergency, it was just classed as that as it wasn't in the planned date :)
Have you spoken to your doctor in regards to the same things happening a second time round? If your doctor knows what happened last time then I'm sure extra precautions will be taken this time.
Just relax and enjoy your pregnancy :)

The classical was how they used to do it back when our mums had c sections in the main. They are also used now for prem baby delivery and if the baby is in an awkward position. I'm not sure why you had yours or when but normally it would need to be noted because they really don't recommend a vbac after a classical!! The classical does hold a slightly higher risk of rupture if you go down the vbac route. I assume you aren't? Also I'm sure you don't need to have a prem baby on the repeat!!... Plenty plenty plenty of women have had repeat classicals, like I said its what was used back a few yrs ago as routine

Id voice your concerns with the consultant, but if they were concerned they would have addressed it surely.

I had a classical c section too, incision was from under my boobs to top of pubic bone. How long ago did you have your last c section? And are you having a repeat c section or VBAC? I was told that I could have a VBAC for my next if I wanted. The risk of uterine rupture is only a tiny bit higher after a classical but I'm not certain of the exact statistics. I am sure you will be fine :) As long as the doctor is aware, then they already know what precautions to take. Ask next time you have an appointment to put your mind at rest. Good luck

No. After my last crazy scary experience, I will not even be attempting a VBAC, so I guess that's not an issue. I thought the risk of rupture from simply being pregnant was higher. And I'd read that women had preemies because the scar started weakening during pregnancy. Who knows? Sometimes, I wish you couldn't look up so much info on the internet. LOL.

I had an emergency vertical c-section. Doctor said to wait a year before trying, that VBAC was not an option, and that I'd need an ultrasound every week during my next 3rd tri... as soon as my scar tissue was too stretched we'd have to deliver immediately... probably around 34-35 weeks... I guess it depends on your doctor and specific situation...
Good Luck!
