Pregnant after Negative HPT. Help???

My last period was August 6, 2010. I went to my doctor September 3, 2010 because for the past few days I've been nauseous, gagging, had some heartburn. I went and my temperature was 99.7 which is a few degrees high for me, but my urine test came back negative and so did the HPT that I had taken the day before. Did I test too early? Most tests say you can test up to four days BEFORE your missed period so I don't understand why on the day of my missed period it would come up negative. My period was due the second, but I have yet to get it. I had a blood test done today, September 4, 2010. But if the urine couldn't detect pregnancy wouldn't the blood not be able to detect it as well? Should I take another HPT?

wait abit and then take another test i tested too early and i could swear i saw a very faint line i went to docs and they tested and said i dont think you are pregnant. Im about to give birth in a few days test next week. good luck x

Thanks. The wait is killing me. Waiting to test, waiting for blood results. Can't really decide which is worse. I'm just hoping it wasn't one of those "your body thinks your pregnant" deals. But I've though I was pregnant before and STILL had my period. So I doubt that would happen to me. Its my complete loss of appetite that worried me.

Give it a few days and test again. It takes up to 3 days for you hormone levels to double so it should show up by then hun. I didn't get a positive until 4 days after my period was due.

Thanks for your input. I just want to know for sure. And when I told my doctor my HPT was negative she said "well, those ARE pretty accurate" where as online I read that even though they claim 99% accuracy 4 days before your missed period, in all actuality their only about 16% accurate.

Your bloods would definitely show it up though.

Thats good to know. The results are supposed to be back around Wednesday or Thursday. I just hope I'm not psyching myself out.

hey hun I missed my period & just knew I was pregnant but kept getting negatives on HPT's, I waited a week and tested again... still negative. I was still so sure that I was pregnant so went to the doctors. they did a blood test in the end & that came back positive.. I hope you get the result you want xx

I took a test 2 days after my missed period and it was so light I couldn't tell... went to dr got bloods was pregnant just was very low and now I am 9 weeks and everything is going great I have a little jumping flipping waving baby inside doing great...

Thanks guys : ) Blood test should be back by Thursday. Should I go ahead and take another HPT today? Sunday. Or try to wait. lol.
