We lost our last pregnancy on Christmas Day, we had a bleed Christmas Eve, went for an emergency scan and found out our baby had died several weeks before. We were both absolutely gutted and thought we would never try again for a baby, but after much thought and discussion we decided last month to give it one more go, and sure enough this morning we got a very faint positive, and we are 4 weeks and 1 day pregnant.

With my first pregnancy, a successful one that produced my lovely Son, I got an instant dark line as soon as I pee'd on it, with the last pregancy and this one, ive had very, very faint lines. Does that mean anything? Is it bad news again for us?

Also, with my first pregnancy I was paranoid big time about miscarrying, so didnt tell anyone or go to the doctors until we had reached the 12 week mark, whereas last time we told everyone and went to the doctors straight away and all went wrong, so this time im keeping quiet about it all again, but id like an early pregnancy scan, does anyone know if its possible to book one of these with the local hospital rather than going through my GP?

Thanks

sorry not much help to you, but i'm sure your gp might be able to arrange one for reassurance. best of luck x

i no theres the early pregnancy unit at some hospitals, i have one at mine and you can ring them up and ask for a scan, but im not sure they scan for reassurance purposes, only if theres been problems, but i could be wrong.
so sorry about your previous loss, finding out over christmas must have been horrible!
but congrats on the new one :) xx

We went to GP yesterday who has no problem in referring us for an early reassurance scan, we just have to go back in 2 weeks to remind him to refer us - its going to be a very long 2 weeks, im so impatient!

First I am sorry for your loss. I went through a very similar situation and I understand how hard it is to not worry the second (third, fourth...) time after having gone through it.

I had told everyone about our pregnancy the first time around and had such a hard time with that after our loss. The next two pregnancies we didn't want anyone to know until 14 weeks just to avoid that happening again.

Try to relax, even though I know it is tough. Keep in mind that a mmc is so much more rare than a mc and far more unlikely to happen again. I am sure everything will go beautifully for you this time around.

Here's to a happy and healthy 9 months!

Hi Hun, I'm sorry for your loss over Xmas but congratulations on your new pregnancy. I went to my GP in the hope he would refer me for an early scan but he wouldn't because as far as he was concerned last time was just a case of bad luck! I was really disappointed but we decided to book and pay for a private scan this coming Saturday.

Good luck with everything flower xxx

i have lost 5 bubs and this time i just called my early pregnancy unit and got a scan. all seems to be going well so far but i still havent been to my docs. ring your nearst epu and tell them your not sure how far you are and you have had a bit of pain and you have previously had a mc and they should see you. they dont like doing reassurrance scans but due to my history i am high risk. good luck huni. fxd for you xxx

We already rang the EPU, they wouldnt see us without a referral from my GP, but he has already said he will refer us no problem, and anytime between 6-8 weeks but as our last baby died at 7+4 there isnt much point in going too early as it will get our hopes up too soon and it means more stress and worrying for me. We are happy to wait until the GP recommends, just wish it would hurry up!!

My GP has booked us in for a scan tomorrow - I dont know what to think or do, I want to find out if everything is ok, but then I dont want everything to be over if its bad news again.

Good luck Hollie, let us know how it goes. Thinking of you x

Everything looked fine on the scan, could see the heartbeat, but she said I only measured 7 weeks so didnt help me really whatsoever as my baby in our previous pregnancy was doing fine until the end of 7 weeks so im still panicking!! I wont be offered anymore early scans either unless theres any problems.
