I just found out I am pregnant and I had a miscarriage last month! I'm shocked and scared to death! Has anyone had a successful pregnancy straight away after a miscarriage? I don't even think I ovulated so I don't know what is going on. Also, how do I date this pregnancy? I discovered pregnancy on August 9, then bleeding on August 14th for a week while miscarrying. Negative test one week later. I was sick 2 weeks ago and took a test, was negative. This morning makes 5 weeks and 2 days since I started my miscarriage bleeding and I have a positive test. Does this mean I'm 5 weeks pregnant? Sorry for all the questions, will ring the doctor on Monday but that's 2 whole days away. Hopefully, this is lucky pregnancy number 6! (Had one ectopic, one mc, then 2 little girls, then one mc, and now pg again)

Congratulations :)
Dates wont be accurate until a scan.
But most people who have a early loss go onto have healthy babies. Iv read about so many woman who had early losses and chemical pregnancies and catched straight away and all went well, this also happend to my friend.
sometime people ovulate immediately after bleeding has stopped or a week or so later and not realise.
I had a chemical last month,I ovulated 4 days ago so have my fingers crossed to be lucky like you and catch again.
Also ask doctors for a couple of hcg tests. Will put your mind at ease until a scan. Good luck x

Congrats!
Of course you ovulated, you wouldn't be pregnant otherwise :winkwink:.
I got pregnant straight after a miscarriage. I miscarried at 6 weeks and ovulated 16 days later. We gave it a try and we did it! I'll be 18 weeks tomorrow and it's going great so far O:).
If you were able to get pregnant in the first place, that means your body was ready for it. That's all. Soemthing might go wrong but that can happen in any pregnancy.Try to relax as much as possible (I know that was hard for me at the beginning).
Good luck!

Thank you to all.
I went to the doctor today and they were extremely unhelpful. She wouldn't take blood to check my levels and they won't do an early scan. I will have to see midwife at 7-8 weeks. But, she said I should start counting the weeks from the week that I had intercourse and likely conceived which was 2 weeks after my miscarriage and would only make me 3 weeks pregnant. This seems wrong to me. Should I start counting from the day I started bleeding from my miscarriage as if that was my last period? That is what I have been doing.

My last pg was discovered just 5 weeks after my last miscarriage. I had some idea of when I ov'd after the loss though because I'd tracked my hCG dropping with hpts and I'd done a few random opks when I had ov signs. My bfp came 2 weeks after opks were pos and 4 weeks after my hpts had gone negative. An early ultrasound to check viability showed a baby measuring right on with my opk dates so the dr changed my due date based on those measurements. Up to that point, she had used my m/c date as my lmp for lack of better dating.

Oh and that last pg ended at the beginning of this past July when my DD2 was born at 38+1. :)

I miscarried at 12+6 on June 4th/5th, ovulated 25 days later and tested positive again on July 13th. I am now over 13 weeks with a healthy little baby :)

It's probably best not to have a scan this early as it may leave you with more questions then answers. They will probably date the pregnancy with an early ultrasound, but waiting a few weeks will make it more likely to see a baby and a heartbeat.

All you can do is TRY (as hard as it might be) to relax and enjoy being pregnant today and each day that follows. Nothing you, nor the doctors do or don't do will change any outcome. There is a very good chance that this will be a healthy bean :)

Congratulations!

I miscarried May 8th and got my bfp June 8th.. I had an emergency ultrasound at 6 weeks because of bleeding (they found a sch) and then I had another ultrasound at around 9 weeks (which is when I miscarried last time) and saw a healthy heartbeat. Everything has been great so far. I am 15 weeks and 3 days today. My dating was easy since I knew when I ovulated.

I got a call from the doctor's office today and I am going to have an early scan at 9 weeks. I'll get a letter from the hospital that will tell me when the appointment is. How will they know if I am 9 weeks? I'm not sure how they are counting the weeks! I know about when I had intercourse and likely conceived (around August 26), so is that week 1? I'm very happy for an early scan in a few weeks! Now, I just need to wait.

The counting starts with your last period. So you are two weeks when you O. Pregnant before you actually are ;).

They should be counting from the start of your loss and then they will adjust it with the ultrasound measurements.
