Pregnant using regular lube or saliva?

I've read all over the place that preeseed is the only lube that works to get pregnant. My DH isn't ready to spend the money on preeseed yet, but i dont have enough CM usually to get us through BDing. Sometimes we use saliva or regular lube very sparingly, and Im always terrified that we are sabotaging ourselves. Any ladies out there have an oppinion? Has anyone gotten pregnant using anything other than preeseed?

Hopefully my friends on BnB can ease my mind a bit!

I was wondering the same thing and I talked to a few ladies but they all told me Preseed is the way to go. I read that saliva can make for a "hostile environment" causing motility issues. Preseed is also said to be most like cm and promotes a more natural environment. I cant say that I actually know anyone who has gotten pregnant with it but on the website they have all kinds of facts and clinical studies that back it up. Im really wanting to buy some as well, I have the same problem.

Yes, DO NOT use saliva; if you have oral before intercourse then you're botching your chances as well. Saliva contains bacteria which kill sperm.

Preseed or your own CM are the only ways to go if you want a baby.

I got my bfp my very 1st cycle with preseed. I had a mc but I don't believe the preseed had anything at all to do with it, and I've met quite a few women on here who have had h&h 9 months after using it. I'm sure there are plenty of women who got pg while using saliva or other lube "by accident" but they do create a hostile environment for sperm so when actively ttc preseed is best. There is also conceive plus which is supposed to be similar to preseed but I haven't used it.

Regular lube, as far as I'm aware, isn't sperm friendly. Also like everyone else says, have heard many times that saliva will kill sperm!

I know PreSeed's not the cheapest product but it's not prohibitively expensive...here it's about £15 which is what, $25? I have heard many a success story on here about PreSeed, and we're going to be using it next cycle when we also start clomid.

There are other ways you can try to increase your CM - try drinking grapefruit juice every day, and plenty of water. I've never tried it myself but apparently taking rubitussin can help. Try googling it - it has some ingredient in it that is meant to help. Some ppl also find taking Evening Primrose Oil can help from CD1 through to ovulation, but that might be risky as I know some ppl with regular cycles found EPO messed them up a bit :/

As others have said, saliva and regular lube are not sperm friendly. So definitely steer clear of them.

What worked for OH and I, since we weren't going to buy preseed and stuff the first month TTC, was making the foreplay longer. We even pulled out toys which really helped get me in the mood. Maybe you could try a similar approach if your OH is still against buying preseed?

We have started using Pre-Seed this month and love it! I thought it would be a buzz killer but I just insert it up to half an hour before I want to my husband and then we are ready to go. My problem is that I didn't have hardly any CM. Before my first child I always had lots but now I can barely ever feel it. I also really love not having to use spit all the time anymore

I picked up pre seed a few months ago. We only use a little bit to make things comfortable. Its lasted us a few months and we use it each time. So it may be pricey but you don't need a lot at a time. We are in cycle 9 but having more fun with this lube

I convinced by hubby to spend the extra money and get the stuff! Lol Im excited. We are waiting for AF and Im about to start my first cycle of Clomid, I told him I really wanted to use it with our first cycle and he laughed at me and told me if I really thought it would help then to spend the money.

s_love you are the same as me!! We are starting clomid next cycle along with PreSeed I am hoping for AF to show up in the next couple of weeks so we can get started....excited!! I'm glad he came around

Awesome! I hope AF shows soon for you, I know waiting drives me insane! I really hope the Preseed makes a difference, Ive read so many great things about it. This is almost out 8th month TTC but it will be the first with me on medication (Provera and Clomid) and with a friendly lube. I wish I would have joined this site earlier and found out about the Preseed before.

That sounds like a great idea!! Especially since we are on CD23 with no signs of O yet. DH is getting tired of the scheduled BD...maybe spicing things up will help all around! Thanks!

hey ladies just thought i would jump in if thats ok? I have been taking robuttisun sorry for the spelling and drinking two glasses of grapefruit juice a day. i can honestly say i have never had much cm at all. today cd14 (not O yet either, i O late about cd16)
today i had quite a bit tmi sorry but it was there and i know it was from the robuttusin and grapefruit juice. i have also been using pre seed and doing the smep plan along with the cbfm. Yep i'm armed and ready girls.

Ive seen Robitussin mentioned a couple times on this site and I keep forgetting to look it up. What exactly is it supposed to do? Lol and yeah it sounds like youve got an arsenal! I hope it all works!!

Its actually a cold medicine for like stuffy nose. You can get it at the drug store.

I guess it breaks down your mucus, making it more plentiful...thats what I've heard anyway. In turn, you have more EWCM.

I believe it's supposed to help thin your CM, just like it helps thin your nasal mucus when you have a bad cough. And if it does thin your CM, it obviously helps sperm to travel more quickly and easily. I'm drinking Grapefruit Juice daily, which is supposed to do the same thing, and Green tea, which stimulates healthy blood flow to reproductive organs (uterus and fallopian tubes).
