My FSIL had asked me so many times when Nick and I were going to make her an auntie, so I was thrilled to be able to tell her as soon as my pregnancy had been confirmed. I have decided not to tell her about my loss prior to her wedding on March 4 as she is already overwhelmed with the last minute stuff, and I didn't want her to have to worry. I am planning on telling her when they return from their honeymoon.
Today was her shower and she had told all of her friends that I was expecting. I guess she figured since they didn't know any of my friends or anything, there wouldn't be any harm. I kept getting asked about morning sickness, and ultrasounds, and my due date. I had to lie and pretend everything was ok and that I was a happy mom-to-be rather than someone who was suffering from a loss.

That sounds like a very difficult day and emotionally exhausting. I am so sorry for you loss and the day you just had.

She does sound genuinely excited for your pregnancy so I am sure she would want to be there for you in this time of grief as well. You probably don't need to put yourself through this if you find it hard. However, it sounds like you don't think she can handle the news right now, which might cause you more stress. So that is understandable. I hope the wedding isn't more of the same.

I can't imagine how very difficult the shower must have been for you I have to say that I think you are amazing and must be such a kind person to put her first like this, at a time when you most of all need to be put first.
