Hi,

For about 4 days I've been having what feel like niggling period pains accompanied by lower back pain that eases a bit when I sit down.

Today, I woke up with period pains and they haven't really faded, they are like a constant dull ache very low down sort of where I think the babies head is (MW said babies head was low in my pevis).

Is this just down to the lowering of the baby? or are these pains a sign labour might be near? I don't think its braxton hicks as they don't come and go today, just all the time.

It's possible it could be baby engaging or labour getting ready to kick off. I never had an BH, but I got this about 5 days before I gave birth (at 37 + 5), so this was about 37 weeks exactly. Baby wasn't engaged at my 36 week midwife appt, so I have no idea if that was her actually engaging. I never really dropped before I gave birth. So it could be a sign things might start up soon, but could just be one of those normal but frustrating late pregnancy niggles that means nothing.
