I am going to call the doctors on Monday to make an appointment and let them know about the :bfp: (AF due yesterday but it was a very long cycle so i am guessing by there calculations i will be about 5 +1) but from experience i know they wont really give a monkies! But as i had a MC last time i am totaly paranoid something is going to go wrong again. So has anyone got any experience of what doctors are like about this? Are they a bit more understanding or is it still all bussiness and come back later?

I just want to know what to expect as i have been let down by doctors before. Thanks in advance x

congrats on your bfp, my own expereince until you have 2 or 3 losses dr's just say, it was bad luck, chances next time are great blah blah blah, tbh, some epu's will offer an earyl reassurance scan others will not, it took 5 miscarriages to finally be offered regular scans and for them to take my worries seriously.
good luck, you can only ask xxx

Thanks for that x, i know we have a good EPU in shrewsbury but to get a scan i would have to be sent by the doctor. They were the only ones who were nice when i had my MC and i still have there number so if the doctor is a bit crap i may call then direct and see what they say.

congrats!!!! and due to my previous mmc they have all been brilliant xxxxxx

Congratulations! I think it takes several mcs usually before you will be referred for early reassurance scans etc. It can't hurt to ask though!

:hugs: Congratulations!

My doctor was very understanding. He booked me in for an early appointment and scan, and has really gone above and beyond to make this a happy, relaxed pregnancy for us. When I first heard the heartbeat in his office, I told him that my husband was going to be so disappointed that he'd missed it (we didn't expect him to pick it up with a doppler at 9 weeks, and my husband was only able to get the u/s day off work). My awesome doctor ran and got his blackberry so he could record the heartbeat and e-mailed it to us. He's spent lots of time talking to us and I know that if I'd requested extra tests (within reason) he would have agreed.

However, I've heard from friends who are pregnant after one miscarriage that their doctors refused to do anything extra on the grounds that their risk of repeat mc wasn't any higher than someone who'd never had one. Of course they're right, but they aren't the ones who have to live in fear for months.

I hope that your doctor is understanding. Look at it this way: if he isn't, you still have plenty of time to find someone who will care for you properly during your pregnancy. You deserve to have someone caring and understanding look after you and your baby.

congrats!!!! and due to my previous mmc they have all been brilliant xxxxxx

Thanks for the info as you are not that far from me maybe they will be a bit better at the new practice. I think my GP was just a twat as other have left beacue of there attitudes.

If not i have found a place in shrewsbury that does and early scan for £75 which isnt too bad so will go there. After that we can start telling people :happydance:

Right got an appoinment today for 10:10am so will report back how it went. Feeling nervous now, dont know why but doctors always make me feel like that!

How did it all turn out?!?! i know my doctor here (they dont see patients til 9-10 weeks) kinda said that miscarriages happen and said we could go in and see the baby.. and we did.. so it just all depends...

Well the doctor was lovely and spoke to me about my diet and concerns without making me feel silly. Not being sent for a scan unless i have bleeding or pain but i excepted that anyway. My EDD with them is 06/11 so i have been put ahead a week. Still it means i should see the MW in a couple of weeks :happydance:

We have also decided we cant afford a private scan so will have to wait for the 12 week scan to see bubs, 6 1/2 weeks and counting!!

They were to an extent but at the same time quite medical about it, when I explained how worried I was he said that whatever happens will happen and there's no poit worrying about it- whilst I see his point he is not a woman and couldn't possibly totally understand and doesn't know me personally to know saying that would not hold any ground to making me feel better !!

I'm glad they were good to you and good luck xx

my doc was amazing, she hinted that she knew too well how it felt and referred me for early scan x
