My Dr's office can't even answer me on weather or not this is safe to use during pregnancy. Not even google could give me a strait answer, just opinions..I have had terrible break outs since day one of this pregnancy and i am getting married in less than two months. I really wanted to clear my skin up so i ordered the proactiv system. On their website it says "None of the active ingredients in Proactiv are contraindicated during pregnancy. However, we recommend that you consult your physician before using any medication during pregnancy or while nursing." ... again my dr's office could not give me a strait answer.

I started using it last night and my skin is already looking better. I would really like to continue to use it. The two active ingrediants are Silayic acid (2%) and benzoyl paroxide (2.5%) My regular toner i used before this also had sylaic acid in it, so apparently i have been using it the whole time.

Has anyone used this product or anything containing the active ingredients throught their pregnancy? Does anyone still use this while pregnant?

I'm using Proactiv! My doctor said it's safe :) Although, the version I have doesn't have any salicylic acid in it, no idea why  But my doctor said steer from the salicylic acid as it sounds it may have more of a risk than the benzoyl peroxide, which claims to have next to none.

i've used Proactiv since I was 18, I'm now 30! I stopped using it once I found out I was pregnant and my face has never looked worse. I have more horrible pimples than when I was a teenager. I saw my OB last week and when I told her I really wanted something to fix my face she said, "Use Proactiv." I was shocked! She told me it was safe so I ordered a new kit a few days ago and I can't wait to start it again. Woo hoo! Hopefully my pimples go away in time for a convention I'm attending in November.

Thanks ladies! I told my mom about it and told her i cant find answers anywhere. She said if it was truly dangerous there would be information on it, they would have studied it. I'm still not sure why there arnt studies on it. There are studies on certain herbs during pregnancy (like chamomile), yet nothing on the mild ACID that most women use on their face on a daily basis... it's in most toners and a lot of clensers out on the market. Yet no information on how safe it is for unborn babies... anyway i'm glad you ladies use it.. i would lose my mind if i had to just "let my face go" Ah! just imagine my wedding photos!

I thought proactiv had only benzoyl peroxide in it?
I honestly think all that stuff is safe. I had stopped using my face cleanser with salicyc acid in it, and then I did some research and it seemed it was only harmful in the chemical peels where it is very strong. I also use 2.5% benzoyl peroxide lotion daily on my face. Many doctors say not to use it, but I couldn't find any research saying it was harmful if the percentage was small. I asked my doctor and he didn't seem concerned at all. He said that most of that topical stuff that you buy over the counter is fine. I told him my face wash had a low percentage of salycic acid, and my lotion had 2.5% bp and he said it was fine. :)

it has sylaic acid in the body wash, which i am a little nervous to use, and havent yet tryed. Thanks again for the replies.

Ohhh I was confused as to where the salicylic acid was in it too.. but the body wash makes sense! Oh how I could benefit from that too :( My shoulders are terrible!
Btw, I'm jealous of your wedding date!! :haha: I think that'd be so neat to get married on 11/11/11, enjoy :)

my shoulders are terrible too, thats why i got it :( Thanks! it's funny i wanted that date when i saw it was comming up and told finace "we should get married that day" half jokingly before we where engaged... Little did i know we really would be getting married that day.

I would say use it sparingly....Once or twice a day if needed and dont keep it on for too long :)
