Can premature birth and early labours run in familys? Reason i ask is my aunty carried to full term with her boys but gave birth at 6 months with both girls. One girl lived a couple of hours and her other was born at just over a 1lb but survived and had no issues due to being born so early. Im just worrying myself!

I think there are certain things that can run in the family... like... if you had a mom who had high blood pressure (and thus put her into premature labor), that is something that could be passed on to you. I am not sure if that is truly the case but I think that premature labor more has to do with your body versus any sort of genetic thing... i.e. there is no "premature labor" gene as far as I understand. Another example is like if your mom had an incompetent cervix, that is something that could be passed on to you because it is a physical characteristic.

Does that make sense? lol

This might be able to help you more than my jibber jabber!
