(Hope you don't mind me posting here again for some help - I seem to get more response here than ttc....)

I am waiting to use progesterone cream and am unsure when to.

I am on cd12 and last cycle I got a positive opk on cd14/15 but my progesterone level was still very low at only 6.2 (previos cycle was 5.2). I've taken soy for the first time this cycle (days 3-7) and am doing lots of opks but only getting very faint lines at the moment and sometimes nothing

When should I start using the cream??? I only have opk's to rely on as temping doesn't work for me Will using it before I get a positive opk be ok or could it hinder ovulating???

Thanks for any help

Hi,

You should wait till after ovulation, but if your not sure about opks reading then try temperature charting as well. Even once you ovulate then is best to start 3 days after until AF or + preg test.
Good luck hun :)

Havana - thank you so much :flower:

I can't do the bbt unfortunately - I get wacky results as I don't sleep through the night as I have to get up for the loo at least twice :dohh: I also sometimes wear heat patches over my pelvis so this affects the temp also :dohh: I did try temping last cycle but it just proved pointless and my chart was scrapped  So all I have are the opk's and hoping for the best

So when i get a positive opk, they say that ovulation should occure 12-48 hours later, so would 5 days after the first positive be ok?? Did you use the cream Havana?? I'm just worried about using it too soon or too late and I've also just been reading about certain brands and problems with certain ones :dohh: I have the Serenity brand from Guernsey and have just been reading reviews saying order it from Plymouth not Guernsey!!

Thanks again - I so hope I can come over to the pregnancy forums soon, I always get so much more help from you lovely ladies :flower: Not a single response from ttc forum on my last 2 posts

lexx people tend to R&R on TTC i remember that alll too well but id happily reply to everyones posts.. >.< i've heard regardless to use it 3-4 days after your first pos opk, because you cant be certain when you're gonna ovulate, so you're covered either way :) xx

thanks candyapple19 :flower: I will keep testing like crazy and hope for that lovely positive then will wait at least 3 days before I use it  I assume that I use it until I get af or if I finally get that glorious bfp, i keep going with it?? (oh and yes, still no responses on ttc board - I'm getting bored of being there now :haha: hope this a good sigh :haha::winkwink:)

Thanks miss cakes :flower: I need all the luck I can get :winkwink:

Hi again,

I am always willing to help, I had many years of TTC and I did use the Serenity progst. I took B6 along side it to rise my prog levels so you should look into that. PM me if you want to know anything in particular. I hope to see you on the pregnancy forums soon hun A masive ((hug)) and Babydusts *******:baby:

Thanks Havana :flower:

Did you get your serenity cream from Guernsey?? Could you also please let me know how much you used and when? Thanks  I'm still doing lots of opk's but only getting faint lines or nothing at all at the moment - i'm on cd12 and am hoping soy iso's have pushed ov forward by 2 or 3 days, so going by last month that would be tomorrow  But no pos opk in the last 3 days so who knows  I just don't want to use the cream until I'm sure I've ovulated and I'm really hoping the soy has done the trick in making me ovualte

I'm quite fed up today as my dh has got a cough and is achey  so he is confined to the spare room as I can't risk getting ill with my other issues  We are both praying it's gone by morning - I've given him so many natural pills and potions :haha: He is sad too as he knows how important this week is for dtd - he hasn't been ill in over 3 years so this is soooo bad timing

I can't do the B6 as it irritates my bladder :dohh: I am trying to eat things high in this vit though and hope that suffices

Thanks so much for your help and I hope all is going well with your pregnancy - it must be so amazing when you have tried for a long time and thanks for the invite over here, I will gladly accept - heres to hoping it will be soon :flower:

hi lexx,

I did buy it from guernsey. I used 2 pea size twice a day i think. I dont know much about soya ivf. I took a bunch of vits and also protein shakes I got pregnant with treatment but all the vits helped a lot.

It sucks your OH has a cold at the moment, but dont worry its best to get yourself prepared and you may get lucky soon and if you ovulate late then even better cos gives him time to recuperate. Good Luck hun.

Just wanted to share that I had low progesterone issues. I didn't use the creams available, went straight to the doctor. I got put on clomid which, at the right dose, got me up to normal progesterone levels. Then I had progesterone suppositories to as a fail-safe, but didn't start those until my BFP.

Progesterone levels should be low prior to ovulation... its 7 days after ovulation when they should hit a certain level.
Definitely do not start any supplementary progesterone until after you know you've ovulated... havana's advice on the timing is spot-on! :)

Thanks Lisaf :flower: I've taken soy isoflavones which are said to be nature's clomid, so I am hoping they really help  I can't take the drugs as they are too dangerous with all the other things i have going on. Really hope this combo works

Thanks again Havana and to everyone that has replied - I haven't had a single response on the ttc board so am very grateful that you kind ladies have helped me out and haven't mindind me popping in here :flower:

I used to keep an eye on the TTC boards to help answers progesterone-specific questions, lol. I just have too many threads now to keep up!

I've heard soy called natures clomid also. I know that when I took 50mg of clomid my progesterone was NOT reaching normal levels. I had to switch doctors to get the higher dose, but the 100mg worked for me!
I was too chicken to try soy though... I'm super cautious about supplements etc!

I went on a B-complex but it made no noticable difference in my blood test results but might have helped stop my pre-af spotting.

Good luck!! :) If you CAN get the progesterone suppositories from your doctor, they are much much stronger than the regular cream!
