Hello Ladies,

Today I am 4 weeks and 5 days pregnant.
The doctor made me do blood work on Saturday at 12:45pm and Monday at 7:45am.

first day my level was 18
second day my level is 15.5

I know that there is only 1.5 days in between but is it normal that it is fluctuating.

The most concerning part was that she said my am on the boarder of it being low. I thought anything above 9 is ok?

My Hcg levels are going up beautifully. I'm at 2800.

I'm scared because I mc 4 months ago and my progesterone levels were always low. I mean they were 8.9, 8.5 etc,..

Any advice would be appreciated. Anyone had similar experiences?

Progesterone isn't like HCG, it keeps fluctuating up and down all day. After a meal, for example, progesterone can drop by 50%. My progesterone started out at 28 then 23 and then tanked at 9.9 at 5w3d when I also went in for an emergency scan and had lots of bleeding. I had a subchorionic hemorrhage but I was also started on progesterone suppositories right away. My doctor will start people on progesterone if they are below 15. While 9 may be "normal" truthfully its very low and with the fluctuations, if it dips below 9 there is a possibility it can send a signal to shed the uterine lining and start a period.

Progesterone is the hormone that keeps the uterine lining thick and strong and its the job of the corpus luteum to maintain sufficiently high progesterone levels until 10-12 weeks when the placenta takes over. Sometimes, for some reason, this doesnt always happen and progesterone will dip resulting in your body miscarrying a perfectly fine pregnancy. Most reasons for miscarriage cannot be prevented but low progesterone can be with suppositories.

I am convinced it saved my pregnancy. I wouldn't rush to take suppositories with levels above 15 but if it shows that it continues to drop I would probably ask for the suppositories.

They are kinda gross to use so make sure you have lots of panty liners but I am convinced my pregnancy was saved because of the suppositories so I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks TMonster this really put my mind at ease.
I'm just so surprised that with 15.5 and 18 they put me on Crinone 8%. I have my first scan scheduled for next week at 6 weeks.

It just brings back bad memories, they gave me the same cream and I m/c. I know not all pregnancies can be saved with progesterone, that one measured 2 weeks behind, so there were other issues.
