Hi ladies, I had a m/c on 23rd Jan and another mc last year too. I got pregnant right after this recent mc, and went to see a doctor to ask for a blood test to test my progesterone levels. I should add that I am being referred to recurrent miscarriage clinic too, but have got a bfp in the meantime. Well this doctor looked at me as if I was crazy and asked me why I would have my progesterone tested?! I said that if its low, then I will need progesterone supplements? She just didn't get it. She agreed to speak to my usual doctor and call me back today, but guess what... not heard anything. Am I mad to ask for this? Have any other ladies been tested in early pregnancy after previous miscarriages? How early in pregnancy should you be tested? I'm 5 weeks :). Just worried about having a 3rd mc and i read that low progesterone is a common cause. What should i do if they refuse? I'm in the uk. Thanks so much!

Right before my ectopic we found out my progesterone was low which was probably caused from not having a pregnancy that implanted normally. After my second loss I started temping to see when I would ovulate. After getting a bfp my temp started to drop which is a sign of having low progesterone. I called my doctor with my concern of possibly having low progesterone and basically forced them to do the test on me. I was probably around 4-6 weeks and wouldn't you know it was low. I went on meds until 14 weeks. Even with the supplements my levels were the lowest they wanted them to be-but everything is good with baby. I would push until you get answers- maybe your reccurrent miscarriage appointment will do testing, but the sooner you have answers the sooner you can get on supplements if you need them.

No, you're not mad. Low progesterone is a very common problem in women with recurrent miscarriage, and also very easily managed. You should have your progesterone checked right away. My doc checks first thing at bfp. I've been on progesterone injections 200mg 2x per week since the moment I got my bfp. Definitely push this!

Thanks so much for your replies, that doctor made me feel like I was crazy asking for this blood test! I will keep pushing for it...
