So I had an emergency forceps delivery and 2nd degree episiotomy and when I have a bath I always look in the mirror to see how I'm healing.

I'm now 2 weeks and 4 days pp and im a still a little tender but seem to be healing well.

Yesterday I let OH have a look at the scar. I was stood up in the bath with a mirror under my bits, And he asked if I had a prolapse. My vagina opening is still a little wider than it was (understandably) and you can see a little inside when I have my legs apart. There is something there.

I never really noticed as I'm sure I had something there before all this as when I have looked at my bits before in a mirror I wondered what it was.

But now I'm paranoid. The thought of surgery terrifies me and actually got me quite upset.

I'm going to be making a doctors appointment but I don't know how much they can do as I'm still recovering from my episiotomy and I don't want them inserting anything at this time while I'm still sore.

I don't really have any symptoms that I'm aware of.

Anyone else have a prolapse that they only found out about because they could see it?

It's not sticking out or anything, you can just see something there inside.

I can't advise about possible prolapse, but I just wanted to say not to worry too much about being examined. I had to go to the ER for passing large clots and had both a speculum and manual internal examination at 3 DAYS pp and while uncomfortable, it wasn't nearly as bad as I would have thought. I too have stitches from a second-degree tear.
Good luck. I hope it's nothing. :)

My advice stop looking at it. Third degree tear with venthose. My husband used to take a look to see how it was healing and that was it. He didn't have the heart to tell me I'd stitches across my bum cheek untill I said I felt something funny. Of course it looks a bit mad down their you got a baby out of their no matter what size baby it's still a head and shoulders that came out.
Can you move your pelvic floor??

I wouldn't worry just yet! I felt (and looked) like I had something down there for a while after my last birth, but it all went back to normal by 8 weeks PP.

I'm sure your fine. When I looked the first time of course my vagina looked more opened and I could see abit of a bulge. Has 4 different doctors look and a specialist. Everything was normal things looks different after u have a baby lol

When I finally 'looked' and felt after the stitches dissolved I felt a bump too and freaked out. Just like you describe. Sweet OH said he didn't notice anything different (after six weeks he was probably just happy to be allowed to feel 'up there' :haha:). Honestly it was fine, a baby came out of you and your pelvic floor needs time to heal. I agree with PP's....stop looking and let it heal if there are no other issues.

Yup, me too. Feels and looks different...but got better as the days went on. :hugs:

Thanks for the replies!

I went to the doctor today and she had a look and got me to cough. She confirmed is isn't a prolapse :happydance:

It's just because everything is still lose and stuff, but it's normal :)
