I have had my progesterone checked 3 times since I have received my BFP. My level has gone from 19.8 up to 22 and down to 18 in the past month. I had a scan last Thursday and all is well. I saw baby's hb at 138 at 6 weeks 6 days. My doctor says everything is looking good but I am concerned that my level has dropped a little. She has prescribed Prometrium "to make me feel better" but says my levels are fine. I had some spotting early last week but that is due to a small bleed I have in my uterus that she said does not affect the baby.

So my question is...should I start taking the Prometrium or not take it?? My DH is a nurse so I know he will tell me not to take it because the doctor knows what she is talking about. But if there is anything I can do to help my LO then I will do it. I have had a few losses but my doctor also says that they were not related to progesterone.

Thanks for your advice!

Well, if you are taking the oral Prometrium, do it at night before bedtime, as it makes you SLEEPY and very groggy. It won't hurt anything to start it now, certainly. As a reassurance, I probably would if I were you. Your current progesterone level of 18 is good, but supplementation is never a bad idea.

thanks! i decided to go ahead and take it. you're right, it made me sleepy. i took it an hour before bed and it helped me sleep good actually. maybe it's good because i usually have trouble falling asleep at night. thank you for your advice! wishing you a happy & health 9 months!
