Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to see if anyone has or knows anyone who has been pregnant with low protein c. Protein C deficency is a rare blood disorder similar to Factor 5 Leiden. Basically, your blood is thicker and could develop a clot. I saw a specialist and was told that i could go on an injectable blood thinner every day until 6 weeks after delivery. There is no risk to the baby. However the data is not all that promising. If I dont take it, I have a 1% chance of developing a clot. There is no data to support what the chance drops to if you take the blood thinners. Anyone know about this? Just curious to hear what others decided to do.

I was given the same blood thinners, it's called deltaparin and I had a brand called framin.

I read up loads on it, and they are shown to reduce the risk of miscarriage in women so I think they are pretty safe during pregnancy x

Hi there
I have protein S deficiency which is where my blood goes like treacle when I get pg, I've suffered a great deal of losses inc my daughter being stillborn at 34 weeks, when she was born there were a horrendous amount of blood clots behind her placenta, because of this I went to see a fetal medicine specialist when I was pg with Aggie, luckily they did tests and found out so at 24 weeks or thereabouts I was put on clexane and high dose asprin, she was born fine at 30 weeks and I've been on clexane this time since I got a positive test 4 weeks ago, I hate injecting but I know the results if I don't, I found I bled early on with this pg due to the clexane but my specialist said I'm better on it than off, sorry I can't be more help but I can only go off my experience, hope you are keeping well!xx
