Hi there.. a long time lurker, but just got started on really TTC with help..

Finished 10days of Provera on 8/16, then finally got my period on 8/22. This first Provera cycle was def surprising just because i've never had a period this heavy.

Anyway, I am still on my period, today is CD6. Some more info:

- my doc had me do a CD3 panel, still waiting on the results for those
- Doc hasn't prescribed Clomid or anything
- Haven't done my HSG yet, but doc doesn't think i will really need it (we did do a transvaginal u/s and everything looks good)
- Provera was prescribed bc I hadn't had my period since March, and have been fairly irregular due to weight gain.

Questions i have:
- When should i start at least doing some BD'ing?
- When should i expect the bleeding to stop?

Thanks everyone :)

I'd guess the bleeding will stop in the next day or two. The first period after a while without one is generally pretty heavy, your body has to kind of clean itself out.

As for when to BD, you could start as soon as your bleeding stops and keep going until you start bleeding again. lol. If you're going to ovulate, most of the time that will be around day 14, sometimes a little earlier or later. So just make sure you're BDing at least every other day around that time.

And talk to your doctor about getting on prometrium instead of provera if this will be a monthly thing. Provera is not bio-identical progesterone. It's intended only for inducing a period, not for sustaining a pregnancy.

Thanks so much for the feedback :D

Yeah this was just a preliminary round of Provera to induce my period.. it finally stopped after 7 days! Definitely felt shocked at how heavy it was, but overall it wasn't too bad.

I will ask about Prometrium. What's it for? I mean, is it the same thing to induce a period? Is it taken at a certain time during the cycle?

Thanks again :D

You need to BD on CD 10-20 but just every other day. That's what I've always been told. You can start taking Ovulation tests ok CD 8 or so to make sure you don't miss your LH surge.

Good luck!

Sorry it took so long to reply. Prometrium is bio-identical progesterone. It's used to induce periods and also to help sustain a healthy pregnancy. So if you take prometrium from ovulation day until your next cycle is supposed to start (Or keep going until you get a negative test), it won't hurt your chances of getting pregnant. Wheras provera would, because it's only intended to induce a period.

Hello!

I had provera last cycle to induce AF after 89 days. Before that I had a 45 day cycle and AF came on its own. Before that I was always 29-31 days for months and months.

As for when to BD, I was told they would let me know when my surge is happening as we are doing blood tests every few days. The nurse said I could ovulate as per a normal cycle (i.e 2 weeks before expected AF on with a 28 day cycle), or I could ovulate after months of nothing as has been happening recently with my missed AF.
